We are blessed each day and try to treasure all the moments we share with Kayden, Conlan and Paxton. I need to do a better job of writing down and capturing as many of these moments as possible.
Where to start? Kayden read her first book and earned $20 in the process. Kerri bought phonics and we did a DVD and small book, with Kayden jumping up and down with total excitement after each word. Mommy, Dad and Grandma were clapping after each word she got right. What a moment. Kayden is excited to read. She has been reading to Paxton, reading at bedtime and now reading during the day time.
Conlan is playing 3-4 year old little Kickers. He is the only 3 year old on the team, but is doing amazing and scored a goal. It was my first game as a substitute coach. I am most proud that after being frustrated and getting pushed by a little boy, Conlan stayed in the game. He did a goal kick, but instead of kicking the ball he dribbled left to the sideline, around the entire opposing team, then made a bee-line for the goal. He almost got caught from behind, but made it all the way and scored. He was so proud of himself.
Paxton is an amazing baby, calm, a great sleeper. This week was big for him too. He is now eating baby cereal. He loves it.
Kerri is back playing soccer, which is awesome for us to all go an watch!

Paxton Carl
We are excited to bestow upon our precious boy the name of Paxton, which means peace. It is very fitting for him and once you meet him you'll know why. A good solid proper English name recognizing our family roots and beloved family members in the UK.
Carl is a special family name from his Great Grandfather, Fritz Karl Preikschat. In many ways Fritz Karl was the patriarch of our family, moving to the US from Germany. Starting a wonderful life in Seattle and making Washington his second home. There are so many life leasons I hope can be passed down to Paxton from his grandparents and great-grandparents. Carl is my middle name too and connects multiple generations.

First Act of Life
Paxton Carl's first act of life was memorable. As newborns do, he was screaming, showing off his pipes in the OR. I cut his cord and he got a swaddling with blanket. Still screaming, the nurse placed him on Kerri's chest while she was still on the operating table.
Silence.
Paxton knew it was his Mommy. He was completely happy and at peace on her chest. He reached out for her face with his hand, placed them in her mouth as if to say hello, I am your son. After several minutes, the nurse grabbed him to go. Paxton screamed, don't you dare take me away from my Mommy. All the Docs and Nurses in the OR chuckled. He did not want to leave his Mommy. Paxton knew exactly where in his new strange, unfamiliar world he wanted to be.

Baby Boy Arrives 5/25 at 12:05 pm
Baby Boy Arrives!!!
We are so incredibly blessed and excited to welcome the newest addition to our little family! He weighed in at 6 lbs 12.4 ounces and is 19.25 inches long, although he was squirming so much I have no idea how they got him measured!
He was born 3 weeks early, but is healthy and strong! After a long night of contractions we went to the hospital to be on the safe side. Much to Kerri's surprise, Dr. Ashbeck said it was "go time". Dad felt at peace knowing there were two surgeons there to help, Dr. Ambarca (who was the "deck" doc) and Dr. Ashbeck.
Born on May 25th (5-25) at 12:05 pm. Our scheduled c-section was June 4th and official due date June 11, but he wanted to come early.
Here is Kerri a couple of days prior to the delivery, pics with Kayden and Conlan minutes before Kerri went in. Kayden was very emotional and worried. When asked if he thought it was a boy or girl, Conlan said "boy"! More blog updates to come... we've been so busy with our family and work that we've been slow in updating our family blog (okay, at least over a year).
Thank you all for your prayers and for thinking of us! We can't wait for you to meet him. Kayden's new favorate saying is, "he is sooooo adorable" in a cute little voice only a 5-year old can have. Mom and Dad completely agree and falling in love with our beautiful boy.
