Propnight is an action game developed by FNTASTIC. It is a multiplayer hide-and-seek game where you and four other players will flee from a player-controlled killer. To escape, you must fix five prop machines before time runs out.
If you played Dead by Daylight, Propnight will be familiar to you. Repairing the machines even has the same tense quick-time events. However, what makes this game different is its additional prop hunt gameplay. You can transform into items to hide from the enemy. So long as it is within your grasp, players can transform into any item you see.
What is Propnight?
Propnight is a 4vs1 online multiplayer prop hunt game mixed with classic horror survival gameplay. Set in a small provincial town, you play as one of the four teenagers who mysteriously disappeared. The aim is to escape the killer by repairing five prop machines and opening a set of doors. You can also play the killer, with the goal of hunting the other players and killing them to win.
However, as mentioned, the game took the gameplay a bit further by adding another cult multiplayer favorite: prop hunt. This allows the survivors to transform into items to hide from the killer. You can turn into anything you can touch. Players who take on the role of the killer need not worry because the game provides the ability to seek out survivors. However, the effects are temporary.
Unfortunately, these abilities are not enough to carry the game. A huge learning curve is needed to master how to disguise yourself if you are a survivor effectively. Additionally, the game often casts you as a killer despite lining up to be a survivor. Players will also find the killer way too overpowered. Finally, as there is no ranking available, there is no incentive to keep playing.
Is the game good?
Overall, Propnight provides a good experience for horror fans to enjoy. It does not only come with tense survival gameplay, but the addition of a prop hunt makes it a unique hide-and-seek game. However, besides its prop hunt mechanics, the game does not offer anything new. There are also some issues within the game, including matchmaking. At the end of the day, it is a Dead by Daylight knockoff.
