I’m a teacher at a school that has a once-a-week one hour “choice block” where we can offer just about anything for kids. I’m offering a computer programming block. I thought I’d use python because I know it best and because I find the interpreter is great for fooling around as you figure out the language. I’ll have a variety of students -- including some who already know a few languages to some who’ve never programmed in their lives. I want to set students up with some basic tutorials and let them run on their own. Does anyone any suggestions for good, free intro programming texts? Any thoughts about tools that would be particularly useful?
