Lenovo is becoming a C-grade vendor
Tuesday, November 28th, 2023 17:50I've got two PCs made by this make, and an Android phone. Motorola X30 Pro (made by Lenovo) is good, no problem with the CN (Chinese) version upgrade, no tricks, no gimmicks.
Not so good for Lenovo T480s, a 2018 laptop. Since the very beginning, it demonstrated signs of overheating, ended up with defunct Thunderbolt controller. USB Charging is still working, through. Lenovo Vantage (all-round utility for installing vendor updates) is doing OK.
Not so for another PC, a 2021 P620 ThinkStation: Vantage is not showing up, I had to install Vantage Commercial version. However, it wasn't able to find any updates, while there were a bunch of them on the Lenovo web site.

When moving my data and software from disk C to disk D, the task which has been consuming quite some time, I found two options I hadn't noticed before.
Here's my story:
- To move data (including metadata), one has to move all of the folders under %HOMEPATH% (the user's home directory) to another location, one by one
- To move binaries, one might consider package managers, such as winget, scoop, or chocolatey (non-admin option, gonna be default for me)

A newer version was found, but the install technology is different from the current version installed. Please uninstall the package and install the newer version.Here's my story:

Tuesday, December 7th, 2021 11:48Вот кто бы мне пояснил, чего такого потребовалось засовывать в дистр? Было скачано порядка 150МБ, при том, что полная версия для MS Store тянет уже на пол-гига. При этом ещё и версия, которая ставится через Store, не совместима с обычной. Выясняется это уже после установки версии Store, причём простого способа снести Store не предлагает.
Я бы предложил оторвать причиндалы тому продакт директору, который придумал эту ересь вслед за Apple и Google.

Wednesday, August 11th, 2021 19:50Сначала нашёл пост на Смартлабе, о котором писал в прошлом посте. Далее я увидел, что «некоторые аналитики» озабочены увеличением объёмов на рынках репо-обратное репо, которые регулируют ставки с разных сторон.
Иными словами, если объёмы растут неограниченно, это может означать, что что поведение ставок может стать неустойчивым — что может, в свою очередь, привести к кризису неплатежей — вслед за дефицитом электронных компонентов и иных товаров, с поставками которых возникли проблемы?
Допустим, но тогда встаёт вопрос о том, что следует делать, помимо наблюдения…
