My first chalk paint project

 Here's my latest project... 

One of our tenants (Art's & mine, years ago) left this coffee table. It spent a while in my shed (with the wheelchair there was no room for a coffee table), and George & I have been using it for the past few years. 

I've always known that I wanted to paint it, and finally after getting 'the painting bug' at my daughter's (painting her 18 yr old cradle), I purchased some chalk paint once I got back home. Researched a bunch of brands, but settled on Dixie Belle (it's made locally!).

Jenny helped me paint the first coat, one day before spending the afternoon in the pool.  I did the second coat the next day, and yesterday I gave it the 2 finish coats.

Today it came back in the house (it was in my bike's spot, and I got my bike back this morning).

I love how it turned out. (Even though George had asked me yesterday if I knew that I'd missed a few spots! 😂 I didn't miss them, I sanded it down in places to give it a distressed look!)

Now I want to paint his recliner! 😂(Yeah, chalk paint can even be used on furniture! )

    I lost my hubby just 21 days ago.  He quietly passed away after many years of health issues....{COPD and the effects of a stroke from 8 years previous, were his major issues}   I don't know what to do without him, I feel so incomplete... He was my soulmate. We were best friends.  We did everything together, and oh how we loved, how we lived....
    After his stroke I became his full time caregiver for so many years. His Social Security check was how we paid the bills. Now, I've got to figure out how to sustain the lifestyle in which we'd become accustomed to.
    I'm so blessed to have been a part of his life.  He had so much wisdom, and I could just sit and listen to him talk for hours... The stroke really changed that, but I still remember the 'good old days'.

    This Saturday is the Celebration of His Life.

    I want to write more... I want to do more... I miss my hubby...

   I'm posting this even though I feel it's not 'complete'... I just don't want it to be left as a 'draft'.  Maybe I'll add to this another time...

....haven't been on here in a while... I've got quite a few 'drafts' {posts that I hadn't finished or published yet}... Just thought I'd post this one, cuz I wanted to see if it would post with the original date.  It didn't.  {insert sad face here!}  It's nice to be able to reminisce---anyhow.... here's the post, which has just been in my 'draft folder' for so many years!

My first quilt... for Baby Boy Barrios

While looking thru my photo files, I came across this too... I made this for my daughter's baby shower... I was not able to be there {it was in Vermont, and I live in Florida, caring for my handicapped husband}.  This is only the second one of these motorcycles that I've made, but I really am happy with the way they turn out, and because I ride a Harley Davidson myself, I enjoy giving these to new moms.

Well, this sucks... I can't find any pix on the laptop... I guess they're all on my cellphone... I need to figure out how to access Blogger from my cell, and try to download the pix...

Update: well, I've finally got a few pix loaded, but not where I wanted them!

The Start of: the making of ~~My King-Sized Log Cabin Quilt....

This Spring, I finally purchased the fabrics needed to make the Log Cabin Quilt, by Eleanor Burns, of Quilt in a Day.

It took another month before I started cutting my strips....

 I'm really starting to get into it now!

                                                  A whole lotta stripping going on!!!!

                         My Sewing Room~~~ It's a mess, but I've been getting a lot done lately. {If I can stay out of the pool!---that is hard to do, when it's 90+ degrees outside every day!!!}

 finally getting around to hanging my wreath... i used to have it in my VT home... since I've had it in here in Florida, it's been just hanging in my garage.... a few times I was worried that the birds would find it and build a nest in it!!!

I made these lil heart 'ornies' a few years back.... Gave the FAITH one to a friend that needed a little Faith....

Went to a quilt show in town today.... Now I want to get back in my sewing room!
