Quinte Mesh
A Community Mesh Network for Belleville, Trenton, Picton, and Beyond
The Network is Live
We’ve got 7 MeshCore nodes up and running across the Quinte region. The network is growing with the support of a wonderful community.
Mesh networks don’t depend on cell towers or internet infrastructure. When the power goes out or the towers get overloaded, the mesh still works. It’s a “Plan B” for the Quinte region, and it’s free to use.
How it Helps Our Region
- Safety for Families: Send off-grid text messages to loved ones during winter ice storms or in rural dead zones.
- Rural Support: Farmers can monitor livestock or soil sensors across large acreages without monthly cellular fees.
- Municipal Resilience: A backup communication layer for local towns and emergency teams during natural disasters.
- Open Access: Once the hardware is set up, the network is free to use and belongs to the community.
Network Settings
We use the same MeshCore frequency settings as Ottawa and Toronto, so all our nodes are compatible. The long term vision is a Quebec City to Windsor corridor, and Quinte is right in the middle of that.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Frequency | 910.525 MHz |
| Bandwidth | 62.5 kHz |
| Spreading Factor | 7 |
| Coding Rate | 5 |
For setup guides and hardware recommendations, check out OttawaMesh.ca. We follow the same configuration.
Join the Community
Our Discord server is where we coordinate, share updates, and help people get their nodes set up. There’s also a MeshCore bridge that reposts messages from the public mesh channel, so you can follow network traffic in real time.
Get Involved
You don’t need to be technical to help out. We’re looking for:
- Users: Anyone who wants to use the network.
- Hosts: People willing to put a small node in their window or on their roof.
- Collaborators: Local businesses, farmers, and hobbyists with ideas for the network.
- Organizers: Anyone interested in helping with outreach and strategy.
Come say hi in the Discord and we’ll help you get started.

We're looking for sponsors (local businesses, municipalities, community organizations, or neighbours) willing to buy a node and supporters willing to host a node at their location.
