Which Came First? [25 Jan 2008|09:05am]
Chicken or Egg?

While we're at it:

Sigur Ros or Band of Horses?

Who will be the king of the 2 sentence lyric songs?

I might be insane now. [18 Dec 2007|11:31am]
Either I'm insane, or have been "doin' computers" for too long but...

Every "system" has flaws and breaks. Network systems, phone systems, anything with dependancies and/or moving parts fails. The power goes out, the cable goes out, the phone lines cross or go dead, nothing is 100% perfect.

Though, every morning, the sun rises*. Then it sets. Every goddamned day for billions of years, based on our measurements. This has never failed. There is never ever a "glitch", or an "outage" or "need of technical support". It has moving parts and millions of dependancies, yet, no falure. Sure it has an end-of-life, but that's part of the system. The lifecycle goes from A-Z with no failure, unless acted upon by an outside force such as a large asteroid storm or thermonuclear war. Carl Sagan has already talked about this, I know, but now, not only do I see but I'm fascinated with it to the point that I'm pretty sure I'm nuts -- or am one step closer to answering the mysteries of life. One or the other.

* Yes, Cliff, I know it doesnt actually rise and set, that the earth rotates and revolves around it giving it that illusion. You're the only one who WOULD HAVE commented on that anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thought(s) for today [14 Oct 2007|11:40am]
Why is it that when seemingly most people who get into their 30's settle into a rut and give up on all spice and passion for life? The way a spider sucks the "juice" out of a fly leaving an empty lifeless shell is how I see most people my age. I find this era of my life 10x more exciting that being a teenager, or a 20-something.

Also, more than 50% of the people I know are on some kind of antidepressant, and I am being conservative about the 50%, I bet its more like 80%. You know, a lot of that crap comes from unbalanced blood sugar? Behavior mod is good too. SSRIs scare me more than unfounded anxiety.

Comedy tonight at Damons in Hunt Valley, which worries be because there's a Ravens game today, which means eithe rlow turnout, or irritated people who want us to shut up so they can watch the game. I dont know when they end, but I am positive there's a game today. I went to safeway this morning and was the only guy NOT wearing a ravens jersey. What the fuck is wrong with people? Maybe some of that passion for watching fucking football could be diverted into a richer life. (callback!) And maybe you watch it to ESCAPE something.

So like, [09 Oct 2007|10:26pm]
am I the only one who thinks Band of Horses are freaking great and original to the point of being ahead of their time???

...or they are Supertramp ripoffs, I can't decide.

Comedy Report [03 Sep 2007|09:53am]
Last night's set went much better than the one last month. I tried out some new stuff, spun a joke out of that horrible Christy Freeman story (the woman who was self-aborting and keeping the fetuses). I forget my twisted sense of humor isn't always in line with the general audience, hehe. The rest went pretty well though. Thanks to Imagebigeyedgirl and her lovely husband who was the brunt of Jay Czeck's comedy for coming out, as well as (surprisingly) a bunch of other people, (non-lj'ers, cant drop props). Rob Maher made me laugh so hard I got a headache. Good stuff.

I'll be at the Baltimore Comedy Factory wed. night for the Funniest Person in Baltimore contest. I have a coupon for $5.00 admission if anyone wants to go. My set will be much tighter and all "proven" material. Come out and drink and vote for me!!! OR BE KILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Movie Preview Template [19 Jul 2007|02:35pm]
The following is a movie preview template of pretty much every movie ever made:

-light happy twittery music with intro
-2 second silence, narrator says "But they weren't ready for...."
-Cue James Brown's "I feel Good" starting with the "OW!"
-Play "I feel good" for a few bars
-Cut to scene of people running, quick-pulse, high tension scene with fast tribal drumming as the music score.
-Slow crescendo orchestra hit leading up to the logo of the movie title followed by a muted gunshot sound with strong reverb.

Baltimore's Funniest Person Competition 2007 [16 Jul 2007|09:23am]
I compete on September 5th, 8pm at the Baltimore Comedy Factory. We all get 5 minutes, tight. So I will be "spinning the hits", you know, migraines, talking during oral sex, shooting my mom for her birthday, etc. Until then I'll be hitting some open mics, probably in southern md.

Admission to the contest is $10.00 but soon, I'll have a coupon for 1/2 off, so you get i for $5. There is still a 2 drink minimum, but usually there's a $2 beer special. Sodas are cheap too. It's a racket, I know but still, you'll get to see about 10 comics. Some good, some absolutely abysmal. DAMO will be on the same night as me, those of you who went to the Wiseacres open mic last year will remember him. He was in all of our "top 3".

You know... [12 Jul 2007|09:43am]
...for someone who wrote, arranged, composed and performed all of his own songs, music and lyrics, and really captured the standard 80's new wave pop sound, Howard Jones was highly underrated.
