"You're Invited"

I didn't realize that my last post would be connected to this one.

I remember growing up and my mom really emphasizing the whole "everyones invited." Even if I knew they couldn't come, the invite was sent. I had had enough moments with petty girls in elementary and middle school to know how it felt not the be included. I'll invite someone even if they're on the other side of the country, to let them know at least that I am thinking of them and I want them here.

Then enter Cristina's wedding where I was blatantly uninvited and purged.

The whole invitation thing seems even more sensitive.

I have had a schedule this summer that includes every night, M-F. I think a friend of mine has either
1. had a precursor of "oh she cant, she has to work" to those other friends I have (so I don't get invited, I just hear about the activity and the aftermath) or
2. I just wasn't invited.

Both make me sad.

Then comes the last minute invite.
Oh, you're not working Friday night- would you like to go camping that weekend?

Like the obsessive planner hasn't obsessively planned out the only day she has to do anything with any assortment of people.
