Writer's Block: Home Cooking

When was the last time you cooked for yourself? What did you make?

Last time I cooked is boring, but there's a link here to something that's not. This morning I made an italian sausage and wrapped it in high fiber bread with french green pepper mustard.

However, the last time I made something impressive was...Monday night? I made this (which I make about once a week):

Trader Joe's carries dried lychees (longans, lychees, and rambutan are all similar enough to substitute in this recipe). Costco carries gogi berries. I use ordinary sake instead of Chinese rice wine. Everything else is widely available.
You can also cook it in an oven-safe bowl if you don't want to bother with parchment paper. I make this recipe often enough I bought a roll of the paper. Kitchen-gizmo shops carry it.

I've bought Lotto tickets on occasion - not often, because the odds of winning are worse than the odds of getting struck by lightning. I've never won a thing.

If I ever get granted a wish, I plan to…

Southerners do eat a lot of fried food, also a lot of beer, biscuits, cornbread etc & are big dessert eaters, but I also think a big part of it is that so much of the time it is blazingly hot & humid-…
