Personality: If she was being honest Thea would admit she was a total brat in the 5 years Oliver was on the island. But before that she had been a classic good girl with a loving family and plenty of friends. She did change during that 5 years, quickly becoming reckless and embracing everything crazy. She also took to booze and occasional pills to drown her pain, quickly becoming bitter when Oliver does return. But over the 3 seasons to date (canon point wise) she's grown up emotionally and has become a mature young businesswoman in a happy and stable (well given that Roy Harper is also Arsenal) relationship. She loves deeply, is very loyal to her family and the handful she can trust and has been clean for almost 2 years (something she's quite proud of). Sure she's still got an occasional moment of impulsive thinking and is still a little reckless, but Thea Queen has become a fighter and a woman that nobody would have seen just 3 years ago.

Once she wakes up from the stabbing/crash landing she'll also live in fear of having a relapse (she won't with people keeping tabs) while trying to understand a world very much not her own especially given timelines. But once she can connect with her people she'll quickly bloom into that confident and brave young woman she's quickly become. But there will be bumps along the way.

Along the way I do want to explore the mental and emotional fallout stemming from her part (abet via being brainwashed) in the death of Sara Lance along with her recovery from the events leading to her being stabbed by Ra's Al Ghul. My plan is for her to basically be overwhelmed emotionally/mentally at some point to cue a small scale downward spiral via not eating or sleeping for anywhere from a few days to several weeks, This will hopefully be caught before she gets too sick and gives her that push into actual recovery. Add in the island and it just makes things all the harder.

I also have headcanon Thea's been in and out of depression for years (stemming from the Queen's Gambit accident and only getting worse when her mother was killed by Slade Wilson, usually she's able to keep it under wraps beyond family and close friends) which will be a factor in her recovery.

In themes you mentioned leftover rage and yet rage/anger isn't mentioned at all in her personality? How does anger/rage shape her? Is it all in the past? How did it manifest and how does she control it now? To me Thea swallows the bulk of her rage. but it spurs her to rise above her demons and to just be stronger and better. Eros and Malcolm however will be touchy topics while those ghosts are faced properly.

Has there been any fallout so far after the brainwashing? Mostly internal since she did humor the idea of letting Laurel punish her in later episodes but nothing came of it. Being reminded by her friend she is not to blame helped. But the damage is there, just well hidden for now.

What has she done to cope so far? Has she unpacked any of the feelings of her part in Sara Lance's death? Or has she not had time for that yet? Let's be real, she's had almost zero time to deal since everything Ra's plus the island came in at rapid fire speed.

CRAU developments: The night she was stabbed Thea was pulled onto the island known as Pathema. Or as she bitterly calls it,"Screw or die island" since for the last year plus she's had to have sex weekly to stay alive. So her guards had to come down faster than she would have liked. But along the way she gained a small but stable handful of CR ranging from an unlikely friendship in Margo Hansen from The Magicians to coworkers in the Gecko brothers via From Dusk Til Dawn (El Rey) to an alt version of her brother via Smallville. She even had a FWB (or more like a collar partner with benefits) in Damien Thorn from The Omen. So being dropped into the train will put her back to square one for trusting people.

At least till she does open up about the island.

But compared to the island this is a freaking picnic.

Here I would like more about how Thea changed in her year on the island?

Her guards came down quicker than before but how did she cope with her circumstances? By staying alive and finding connection no matter how tiny. Fighting to stay clean also helped.

Has her world view changed? Not by much, beyond hating "gods'

Did she cope with any of her canon issues whilst on the island? Not really, her main focus was staying alive. But she did start the process since her mom's murder along with her being stabbed was revealed during a memory theater event. It showed she was not alone and she did open up to a few people from Peter Quill about her mom to Smallville Oliver about the stabbing. People also keeping tabs when she came down with a cold helped in the process.

If her personality didn't change why not? Between finding those connections, constant sex to stay alive and well wanting to shoot Eros in the nuts (never expressed) Thea was able to stay true to herself in the end. But she's now vowed to not just be a "screw or die bimbo", she has to regain agency.

What kept her stable? Connecting kept her sane. Her FWB/collar partner Damien kept her not just alive but he kept her smiling since the did develop a bond outside the sack. Her outside the bedroom connections ranging from the Gecko brothers to Margo Hansen and Karen Page served that same function since they acted as a family in a sense while on the island.

How are Thea and I doing?

Team Arrow had defeated Prometheus and had escaped Lian Yu.

But in the process the last few weeks had wrecked Thea enough that a simple summer cold had basically knocked her flat. Nothing serious thankfully, just a combo of stress and a summer cold messing her up all at once.

So she was basically stuck indoors on bed rest for a mere cold when she felt that now familiar chill that was Trunks's typical arrival. Little did she know it was a wild round of time travel phone tag since Felicity had called Ray who called Rip who called Trunks. Between coughing fits she calls from the sofa,"I know that chill anywhere!" as a nasty sneeze can be heard. But he would find her on the couch with enough tissues to stock a small army and looking as miserable as she sounded on the phone the prior night when she made it back to Star City.

Thea's hunch had been confirmed via an email from Harry Wells, something had indeed happened to Kristen before she took the transfer into CCPD that would explain her rotten confidence (citing privacy he would not give the details but did mention she was easily intimidated by most men). So she and Matt were tasked with coming up with a plan of attack as the 3 teams (along with the Legends thanks to video) would be on a between villains mission to help the shy archivist who became Madam Archivist via a Cisco Ramon nickname over the summer and in the process becoming Barry's girlfriend.

"Danny mentioned she's just fine around him and Ray for some reason. But then Ray is a big happy puppy. She's fine around Curtis too. She's also just fine around Foggy." she mused. "However she won't look Oliver, Dig or Luke in the eyes if at all." not knowing Matt could heard her musing at that same moment. "So how do we up her rotten confidence?" a pad with a list of ideas sitting atop the coffee table next to her soda and a bag of buffalo wing chip.

Why do you think your character would work in this setting?

Thea is an accidental arrival but she would see this as a very weird form of a second chance to start over and to somehow make amends for the person she had been. This settling would only force her to start facing her demons and to grow more as a person/eventual hero (since she's about a month or so away from taking over as Speedy, an idea she'll embrace with time). Plus she's also in recovery as an addict and being beaten to a pulp and stabbed can only trigger a near relapse. Basically she needs people more than she knows at the moment.


How do you plan to expand their CR?

By nature Thea is a social butterfly and once recovered from the medical part of her problems she'll be trying to find her place in New Dodge. Her ongoing mental and emotional recovery will also hopefully force her out of her shell along with working. She'll also have to relearn how to trust beyond her cast thanks to basically being betrayed by Malcolm Merlyn (her actual father), which will also be part of her journey in game.
