Ae 2026 Update Reminder

I'd rather they left the legacy code untouched and let the customer decide how they want to handle that. Basically I don't want them to get involved in code that I know was once working, I just want access to it like I once had.

I so wish Adobe would give us the option to install ANY legacy version.

Being able to install the current and one year back is a good start, but I've had reasons to use specific older versions several times. It's really not that difficult to implement, and would make customers that much happier.

Shetland - does it recover

It does get grittier over time, I think the darkest story-line is the one about people trafficking. I find all the seasons with Douglas Henshall very enjoyable, it holds its fascination even after multiple views.

As others have said, it's "OK" when Ashley Jensen joins, but I find her character pales in comparison to what we had with Perez.

Is it worth upgrading to 4.0 from 1.0?

JayVersluis
commented

I was wondering this too, and the only major features v4 seems to have over v1 is

  • better text tools (kerning)

  • better way it handles 3D objects (line art conversion, lighting, paint on 3D models)

  • puppet warp 🤩

  • simple mode (UI for tablets)

You also get anything they've added in v2 and v3 of course, like

  • the shading assistant

  • auto-save feature

  • fish-eye ruler option

  • 3D head model

  • 3D manipulator gizmo

  • align/distribute tool

  • audio-scrubbing (helpful for animations)

  • layer comps

If you do lettering or anything with text, it's worth the upgrade for sure. Puppet warp is a fantastic tool to have, it let's you pose 2D characters like in Moho. I don't work with 3D objects directly in this app, so those options are lost on me, as is the "simple UI" for work on Desktop.

Everything else is just as good as it's always been in v1, so it's worth keeping IMO.

They have an upgrade pass that lets me have the latest version for a year, and if I unsubscribe it reverts back to v1. I currently pay $10/year (Pro license) and that's a great price. I also have an EX v1 license that I'll leave as is, which would be $32/year if I ever needed it.

"The Gig" quest – can't collect reward from Cassius Ryder (bug?)

Same for me (on PS5). There is no “Tyger Claw” tattoo anywhere in any of his menus. His inventory is completely empty.

Differences between XP-Pen Artist 24 and Artist 24 Pro, Artist 22 screen resolution

There's a stand built-in (much like a regular monitor would have), you don't need anything else to get going. It's a sort of dual-leg at the back that flips out, so it can either stand upright, or you can lay it on a desk and let it rest on an angle. I use mine in around 80% upright position. The device also has holes at the back for a VESA mount, so you could attach it to an arm. Hope this helps!

Moho Debut 14 vs Cartoon Animator 5? Other alternatives?

JayVersluis
commented

I've been lucky to have both Cartoon Animator and Moho Pro 12.5, and was wondering which one I should dive into. Here's my take on either software:

Although there's feature overlap in principle, Cartoon Animator is meant to be used with store bought assets mainly, and to tell a story quickly. Its interface is very similar to iClone, and it supports some of its content too, so if you're familiar with 3D animation, Cartoon Animator is easy to pick up. Bringing in your own custom assets and getting them animated isn't quite as straightforward, but doable. It has support for external animations as well as lip syncing, you can even hook up a Rokoko suit and do motion capture directly into Cartoon Animator. However, it's strictly an animation tool, not a creation tool. You'll always need another app to create your drawings, and getting those custom assets working might be tricky. While it is a one-off purchase, you may spend a ton of cash on the RL store to buy assets, so factor that into your budget.

Moho on the other hand is a one-stop creation/animation tool. While it does have a library of sample assets, it really supports you from drawing/creating directly inside the app, all the way through to rigging and animation with a ton of cool tools. The learning curve in Moho is much higher (at least it was for me), but their manuals are great and there's an up-to-date course for Moho 14 on their YouTube channel you can watch. If you work with custom 2D assets that you want to animate, I'd say Moho is the way to go. Here's the tutorial series I mentioned:

One last note about version numbers: the latest version (Moho 14) is quite expensive, but earlier versions can be had for much less (13 Pro is under $100 on Amazon, while 12 Pro sometimes appears on Humble Bundle for $30, which is a steal). I'd say go for Pro rather than Debut. Give both trial versions for Moho and Cartoon Animator a spin and see which one clicks with your brain. And most importantly: HAVE FUN and enjoy the journey.
