  • Name Gold Fig https://goldfiglabs.com

  • Video/Pitch Version Control For Settings Pages 2 minute overview and demo

  • Pitch Gold Fig is a tool that automatically creates a shared log of configuration changes to the SaaS tools you use. Services like Stripe, Shopify, SendGrid, Zapier, Segment, Twilio, Sentry, Travis, GSuite, domain registrars, CDNs, or even internal dashboards can directly affect your production and corporate environments, yet their configuration is not tracked with anything near the same fidelity as source code. Our initial product is a browser extension that automatically launches on settings pages of SaaS tools. When you make a change on these sites, the extension gives you the opportunity to also provide a commit message, similar to how you would with a code check-in. Now you have a record of some button clicks that impacted your environment. The change has a permanent URL so you can look it up later if you forgot what you did, use it to help you move settings from staging to prod, or have others review the changes that were made. Now that Gold Fig has captured what changed, when, and why, you’ll never get stuck in a situation where only one person knows exactly how something was configured.

  • We're looking for feedback on our new open source product! The Gold Fig CLI/SQL scehma is an extensible tool to import your cloud configurations and query them using SQL. We currently support a limited set of resources from GCP and AWS but plan to add full support along with Github, GSuite, and others in the future. Check it out here: https://github.com/goldfiglabs/goldfig

  • Details I We're in the early stages of the product and company. Since our post last month, we've rolled out full screencast recording as well as a Zapier integration.

  • We're looking for feedback! What sites would you want to track? How do you communicate config changes across your team? What's the worst outage that was caused by bad config? How could Gold Fig help in those situations?

Looking for feedback from store owners

Hey all, my buddy and I are working on a SaaS tool that we originally thought would be useful for software engineers, but one of our friends who runs a Shopify store started using it and loves it. We’re pretty new to the Shopify world, so we’re looking to chat with a few store owners to validate what we’re working on.

The gist is: it’s a chrome extension that you (and your team if you have one) install, and as you edit your Shopify store[1], it tracks the changes you make and automatically creates and saves screencasts of what you’re doing. That way, you build up a history of your store, and if something ever breaks, you have a reference to be able to go back and fix it, whether you were the one who broke it or not. We use it wired up to Slack to get alerts when someone on the team changes something everyone is aware of it.

If this sounds interesting, we’d love to chat with you! We can also share the link via DM if anyone wants to just try it out.

1: also works on lots of other SaaS tools, like Stripe, AWS, etc.
