Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 Voting Closes Jan 18th

05/01/2026

This is a friendly reminder that voting for the Remixer of the Year (ROTY) 2025 awards closes on Sunday, January 18, 2026. If you haven't done so, yet, you have until then to vote for your favorite remixes and remixers.

And if you can't remember all the wonderful remixes that were released in 2025, listen to snippets from each of them in the Remix News episodes that were released monthly. (November and December episodes are coming shortly, too.) That's roughly 3+ hours of music to get through, but much less than listening to all the releases in their entirety.

Remember to enter a vote for each of the remixes and remixers you want to nominate in a given category, not just one! Every single nomination will count towards the final totals.

Have fun voting!

Back In Time 1 CD

Back in Time

by Various Artists

Back in 1996, a quest began to produce a definitive remix CD of C64 music. There had been nothing like it before (save Datahits, but that didn't really count). It had to involve the original composers in some way, and it had to go through the professional pressing. It was a huge risk, but the end result sold over 2500 copies. Out of print forever, now you can download the album through the miracle of this thing we call The Internets.

Image Clystron

Arranged by Ravetracer

First of all: welcome back, Ravetracer, who seems to produce only remixes of long Thomas Detert tunes! 😁This is a really amazing remix! It is a perfect piece of music to relax with after a long, physically exhausting day. So, thank you for that! It was a genius idea to turn Thomas Detert's frantic, and sometimes a bit chaotic piece into an ambient chill-out piece. I hear hints of Enigma and Tangerine Dream in this remix, too - which is a good thing. This slow-moving downtempo tune may not be everybody's cup of tea, but it really hits the spot for me. Love it.

Image Very Short (Very Sweet)

Arranged by Maindrian

Our man with the guitar does a good job again. I have no idea what game this is remixed from, apparently a SID cover of some old kid's tv show. However, Maindrian manages to make a cheery little song that reminds me of the 90s
power pop/rock band Weezer (don't know what genre you'd call those guys). Lots of crunchy guitars and a speedy happy beat on it all.

Arranged by Tony Fluke73 Wiren

Fluke’s piano playing was truly enjoyable to listen to. The enthusiasm shown throughout the performance was clear and made the music feel lively and engaging. Fluke played with confidence and strong ability, showing good control of the instrument and a nice sense of expression. Overall, it was a pleasant and impressive performance that showed both passion and talent for piano playing.
