Kristi And The Brown Shirts

Image

Kristi And The Brown Shirts
Sounds like a Pop Band
But it is not.
I will inform you of what it is.

Image

At first, its members were Hitler’s personal bodyguards. Because he believed they were especially loyal to him, Hitler expanded the SS into the Nazi Party’s elite guard. Heinrich Himmler, as head of the SS, believed that its members ought to represent not only Germany’s military elite but also the nation’s “racial elite.” Each recruit was carefully screened, and each had to prove his family was “Aryan” dating back to at least 1750. Not only did every member of the SS have to pass the test but so did his prospective bride. The SS would grow to become one of the chief agents of terror and mass murder under the Nazi regime. The SS operated the concentration camp at Dachau that was opened in 1933, as well as the camps the Nazis built over the next 12 years. The SS also established an intelligence unit that spied on Germans and arrested, interrogated, and often imprisoned those they considered enemies of the nation.

Image

In order to intimidate, attack, or arrest their opponents, the Nazis employed their own paramilitary groups and secret police. A paramilitary group is an organized military-style force that is loyal to a political party or private organization instead of a government. Chief among these organizations were the SA (Sturmabteilung, which translates to “storm detachment”), the SS (Schutzstaffel, which translates to “protection squadron”), and the Gestapo (an acronym of the first letters of Geheime Staatspolizei, or “secret state police”).

“We do not say an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. No, he who knocks out one of our eyes will get his head chopped off, and he who knocks out one of our teeth will get his jaw bashed in.”

According to Rudolf Diels, the chief of the political department of the Berlin police, that attitude could clearly be seen on city streets: “Not only Communists but anyone who had ever expressed himself against Hitler’s movement was in danger.”

Let's Take A Road Trip....Shall We ?

Image

Have you ever wanted to run !!!!   ?????

Image

Have you hungered for beauty and alone time ?

Image

If only the road would take you to where you need to be
to find all the answers that you want to find.

Ahhhhh....
The answers......

Image

Would a beach town do it ??

Image

Rolling green hills perhaps ?

Image

The mountains and the sea are the healing elements in my life.
Do you find the sea healing ?
Can you connect with your inner self when you are by the ocean ?

Image

Let's not leave out the morning and evening skies.
It's when you see G-d.
Well, it's when I do.

Image

I would love to drive in an open convertible down this road.
And have a fabulous picnic on the edge of one of the cliffs.
Would you ?

Image

And do the same thing here.

Image

Doesn't this seem like a great idea ?
Who is with me ???

Green With Envy...

Image

I Love the Green Glass Subways Tiles

Image
Shakespeare uses green to describe envy and jealousy  at least three times in his works.
In Othello, Lago refers to the 'green eyed monster'.
In Anthony and Cleopatra,
Shakespeare wrote of the "green sickness", meaning envy.
And in Merchant of Venice, he used the term 'green-eyed jealousy'.

Image

I am so grateful that I do not suffer from envy.
I never have really.

I can't imagine how horrible it is to live with!!
Have you ever known anyone who was really envious ?
I have, and it is such an ugly character defect.

Image

Sometimes I think it is harder to live with someone who is envious
than to actually be envious yourself.
It is SUCH A HUGE TURN OFF!!

And when you live with someone who is suffering with envy -
(and now you are suffering, just being in the presence of an envious person)
And sometimes , when you really need to, You can't get away from this toxic situation
unless you go to a hotel, and that is not practical long term.

My EX husband was always envious of certain members of his family
that had wealthy Dads (his uncles).
He felt as though he got 'the short end of the stick'.
He felt as though he had it so much harder than his cousins had it - because they had The Rich Dads.
My ex's dad was the only poor Dad
His Dad however was the attorney for the Teamsters Union in NYC in the 70's.
He was always complaining.
Really ???? The attorney for the TEAMSTERS? NYC ?????
That sure looked good on paper to me.
UGH.

Image

I used to say to him
"just make it on your own
Like my Dad did."
You can do it!!!

Because he adored my Dad.
And my Dad was self made (and very cool)
he rejected his wealthy fathers money because of all the strings attached to that cash.

And perhaps this Ex of mine had a high bar to pass in my eyes.
It was just that I hated the self pity!
Still do.

I remember that this was the beginning of the end
of my respect for him.
And I think you know the rest!

When you stop respecting someone...it all falls apart.

I am still close with my sister in-law still to this day -
and she too can get hung up on what others have and she does not.
It's sad and Perplexing to me.
I just can't wrap my head around being envious of others.
I just don't see the point.
Do you?
I guess that I am really fortunate that way.
Don't get my wrong....I have plenty of other short comings 👀

Back to design and GREEN

Image

Personally I NEED GREEN in my life always.
When I lived in Maine I craved green
when it was winter time...
and the winter which was about 9 months up there.
I suffered from depression,
I just need Rich, Rich GREEN.

Image

Enough about me.....

Image

I like the way these tiles and the combinations work together.

Image

Image
They are different, right?

The sources for these tiles are at the bottom of the page.

Image

Image

 GREEN
 represents life and abundance,
Happiness and hope,
including new beginnings.

I have always has large portions of my home painted green.
It just centers me and calms me.
It gives me a feeling of well being....
Like everything will be alright.
As you know, you can't get that feeling from a bottle,
but you sure can from a can of the right green paint!

But.....
Be cautious,
Because the wrong green can ruin a space.💀💀💀

I love the color.
How about you?

I Don't Know How To Get Back

Image

I don’t know how to get back to blogging full time again.

      It’s so hard.

It’s very hard when you really don’t want to hear yourself

because you have heard it all before.

And let’s face it, it has not been all ‘happy talk’ .

Image

The past few years have been spent having a knee surgery that did not go as well as I had hoped.

Then I had the brilliant idea to rent my condo out in Boca Raton,

Image

and move to Maine to care for my mother.

Image

That too did not go as well as expected.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Today I find myself living with my Ex husband in Lecanto Florida.

I have my own room and am very grateful to him.

Image
Image

We have known each other since Junior High

AND he is the father of my only child.

Today I went on a job interview.

Image

This job has nothing to do with my profession

It is a part-time office job at Church.

Something without much stress I hope.

                  Oh, Did I mention that I had a stroke July 6th 2024 ?

Image

It was only 6 months ago.

Don’t worry all my facilities returned after 3 months.

                      My sarcasm for sure!

                      I am typing aren’t I ?

Image

How do I get back in the right frame of mind?

Any tips besides ‘JUST DO IT’?

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Ennis House

When Frank Lloyd Wright completed the Ennis house in 1924, he immediately considered it his favorite. The last and largest of the four concrete-block houses that Wright built in the Los Angeles area remains arguably the best residential example of Mayan Revival architecture in the country.

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT’S ENNIS HOUSE SOLD TO RON BURKLE
Los Angeles (July 15, 2011) — The Ennis House Foundation today announced the sale of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ennis House to business executive and founder of the Yucaipa Companies Ron Burkle for just under $4.5 million. “We are excited that Mr. Burkle has purchased the Ennis House and is committed to complete the rehabilitation of this irreplaceable icon,” says Marla Felber, Chair of the Foundation. “Mr. Burkle has a track record of preserving important historic homes, and we know he’ll be an excellent steward of the Ennis House.”
Image
Since 1993,Ron Burkle has owned the historic Greenacres estate, which was built in the late 1920s for silent film legend Harold Lloyd. He will continue the rehabilitation of the Ennis House begun in 2005 by the Ennis House Foundation. As part of the transaction, Ron Burkle will provide some form of public access to the house a minimum of 12 days per year, according to the terms of a conservation easement held by the Los Angeles Conservancy. The easement stipulates this access for future owners of the home as well.

Image
Built in 1924 for retailer Charles Ennis and his wife Mabel, the Ennis House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and built by his son, architect Lloyd Wright. The house is the last and largest of the elder Wright’s four Los Angeles-area “textile block” houses which feature patterned and perforated concrete blocks that give a unique textural appearance to both their exteriors and interiors. The house and chauffeur’s quarters span roughly 6,200 square feet and were constructed of more than 27,000 concrete blocks; all made by hand using decomposed granite extracted from the site.

Image
Despite its significance, the Ennis House suffered greatly over the years from deferred maintenance, deterioration of the concrete blocks, the 1994 Northridge earthquake, and record rainfall in 2005. That same year, the Los Angeles Conservancy, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy stepped in and reorganized the nonprofit that owned the house, renaming it the Ennis House Foundation.
