Unfortunately we lost several prominent members of the Elder Scrolls community in 2025 as listed below.
Julian LeFay - July 22, 2025
Elder Scrolls co-creator Julian LeFay, the core game director, programmer, and designer at Bethesda Softworks in the 1980s and '90s, was considered the chief imagineer behind The Elder Scrolls series during his tenure of the studio, being the project director behind Arena, Daggerfall, and Battlespire, contributing to the programming, gameplay mechanics, and lore design of the series.Laralyn McWilliams - February 8, 2025
Laralyn was an Italian-born American game designer and producer and was a former member of the Council of Wisdom and helped beta test The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall before its release in 1996.Jim Ward - December 10, 2025
Jim was the talented voice actor and radio personality who voiced Mannimarco in The Elder Scrolls Online main quest. He previously retired in 2021 due to health issues, as he was diagnosed with both COVID-19 and Alzheimer's, leaving him unable to continue voice acting. Ward had roles in other Bethesda games such as Dr. Klein in Fallout: New Vegas and Old Longfellow in Fallout 4. He was also known for his roles in many cartoons and games from the 2000s, such as Doug Dimmadome & Chet Ubetcha in The Fairly OddParents, Captain Qwark in the Ratchet & Clank franchise, Perceptor in the Transformers: War for Cybertron games, Professor X in Wolverine and the X-Men, and Diamondhead & XLR8 in Ben 10.Terence Stamp - August 17, 2025

Wes Johnson in Intensive Care (Now Recovered)
Wes was sent to intensive care unit after being found unresponsive. He has since recovered and has been released from hospital.
Wes has played characters in every TES game from Morrowind to Elder Scrolls Online, including the mobile spinoffs Legends and Blades. He's most famous for being the voice of Sheogorath in Shivering Isles and Skyrim, but he has also played roles as diverse as Emperor Titus Mede II, the Arena Announcer, Lucien Lachance, all Imperial males in Oblivion, and all Breton and Orc males in Morrowind. In The Elder Scrolls Online he provided the voices for Ard Caddach and Hermaeus Mora. Outside of video games, he is the Announcer for the NHL team Washington Capitals.

ES Legends Shutdown
The servers for the Elder Scrolls card game Legends have been permanently shut down on January 30, 2025 at 10am EST. We at UESP have had a great time with the game and bid it a heartfelt farewell. We are still busy documenting and archiving the game. There are still many things that can be done after the shut down. We have back-ups of the game files, many many screenshots, and recollections of the players that can be used to fill in the last bits of information to preserve the game to the fullest. If you want to help, head over the Legends Namespace Completion Project.

Oblivion Remastered Released
In a surprise to most of us the remastered Oblivion was released without any announcement and only a slew of rumours in the prior weeks.
We have spent a fair bit of time playing and documenting this new (but still old) addition to the Elder Scrolls.

Tamriel Rebuilt released Grasping Fortune
Today marks the release of Tamriel Rebuilt's Grasping Fortune which centers on the Hlaalu capital of Narsis, a nexus of immense wealth and cruel injustice. Surrounding the city is the vast and dangerous hinterland of Shipal-Shin, whereas a number of Hlaalu and Redoran towns dot the shores of the Thirr River in the Coronati Basin region downstream of Narsis.
Download links and detailed information about new features are available on Tamriel Rebuilt's website.

We are happy to add our first non-Elder Scrolls related wiki to our family...the Independent Fallout Wiki! We've been involved with them in some way for several years by helping them fork from the original Fandom wiki and are now fully hosting them.

ES6 NPC Project
In the spring of 2025 Bethesda announced a charity auction with the prize being the chance to design a custom NPC for Elder Scrolls 6. The UESP gathered over a 100 people from the Elder Scrolls and gaming community in order to pool our money and make a bid but unfortunately the auction went a "bit" higher than we expected ($85,000!) which was outside of our available funds at the time.
Fortunately the story didn't end there....Bethesda reached out to us after the event and made us an offer. If we were able to match the final auction amount they would give us a chance to create another custom NPC for the Elder Scrolls 6. A group of more than 50 of us pooled our money and were able to reach the goal of $85,000. We spent the summer creating a very detailed design document for the NPC and in the fall presented it to a group of Bethesda developers in a virtual meeting.
We can't say more than that at the moment but are excited for the time when we can talk more about it as well as let you meet/experience the NPC yourself!

30th UESP Anniversary
We are proud to announce that this month marks the 30th Anniversary of the UESP! For three decades now, the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages has helped to keep the Elder Scrolls community up-to-date with all the latest information and contribute to the documentation of the franchise, first as an FAQ that began in the autumn of 1995, and later as a wiki starting in 2005. It has continued to grow and evolve since then, now standing at over 115,000 articles!
We would like to give a large thank you to all the editors and readers who have contributed so much to this project and made the site what it is today. We really don't know what else to say, since the club of sites that have been around that long is very, very small. Our gratitude towards everyone in the community cannot be stated enough!
Thank you for letting us be your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995. Here's to many more years to come!

2025 UESP Charity Drive
Our overall charitable donations in 2025 was a grand $59,800, with most of that going towards the ES6 NPC project and the remaining amounts being primarily the Patreon Charity event and our contribution to Lotus of Doom's from Tales of Tamriel charity drive in December.
A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated and helped make these campaigns a success!

Skyrim Anniversary Edition released on the Switch 2
The Anniversary Edition upgrade for Skyrim is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2, complete with a reveal trailer featuring beloved Skyrim grandma Shirley Curry. This version includes the three official expansions (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn), all Creation Club content, and enhanced resolution, improved load times, and optimized performance (as compared to Nintendo Switch) that take full advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2's advanced hardware.
Owners of the Anniversary Edition on the original Nintendo Switch can download the game for free on Nintendo Switch 2, while owners of the base edition on the original Nintendo Switch can purchase the "Anniversary Upgrade" to then download the game on Nintendo Switch 2.

One of the primary challenges this year was continuing to fight unruly bots who would either perform too many requests in a short period or try to scrape content that was database or CPU heavy and would eventually cause a partial or full site outage. Almost all outages in 2025 were due to bots scraping things they shouldn't be accessing or scraping content without regard to server speed.
In 2025 we've migrated all domains to be under CloudFlare with its advanced AI and bot detection and banned capabilities which is a lot easier than try to do server side IP bans like we were doing in 2024. Some bot attacks comprise an absolutely huge number of IPs sometimes in the 100s of thousands which was impossible to handle with individual IP bans. CloudFlare also lets us do a Managed Challenge rather than an outright ban so that a real person that might happen to be caught can still access the site.
This year we will try to improve the bot detection and management to be more proactive and do some server side changes to try and limit any badly behaving bot (or user) that might happen to get past the CloudFlare defenses.

Thank You!
Once again, we want to thank you for joining us in exploring Tamriel and beyond over the last year.
2025 brought us the UESP's 30th anniversary, a remastered Oblivion, and a unique opportunity to both give back to the community and create our own NPC in Elder Scrolls 6. We've been walking this path from the earliest days of this series, and we've had literal generations of Elder Scrolls fans brought together in our community. It's an incredible privilege and opportunity, and we cannot thank you all enough for giving it to us.
We do have some incredible plans for the UESP's future, but wherever those plans take us, we are happy that we get to work through our path with all of you. See you next year!
