Powers/Abilities:
■ THE POWER OF KINGS ― Really, this is just a broad overview of the number of powers granted to him for being a part of the Lucis blood line. Listed below are specifics:
■ SWORDSMANSHIP / GENERAL COMBAT EXPERTISE — It goes without saying that he can use a sword, but his affinity towards the Royal Arms means he is skilled with using a variety of weapons, from giant axes to... giant shuriken.
■ FISHING — 'nuff said.
Power Nerfs (if applicable): Noctis will not be able to summon any Astrals while on El Nysa for obvious reasons (no Astrals), and he will not be able to wield any type of magic through the Ring of the Lucii (no Crystal). He will only wield one weapon through the use of his Armiger/warp magic — detailed more below — with the possibility of gaining more through the use of ACP down the line. All of his other powers aren't strong enough to break the game on their own, so they should be okay remaining intact.

THE CHARACTER
Character Name: Noctis Lucis Caelum.
Series: Final Fantasy XV.
Canon Point: End of Chapter 13, right after Noctis enters the crystal for his ten-year slumber.
Character Age: Twenty.
Background: ❝ darling, stand by me. . . ❞
Personality:
Noctis is a headache to describe in just a few paragraphs, but we shall try. For starters, he is a prince — Crown Prince, in fact, to a very large, prosperous kingdom and has lived his entire life in the shadow of his father who is the king in a long, long line of kings. One would assume this would create a spoiled child grown and pampered to feel entitled to greater things than the common man, but truthfully, Noctis spends a good majority of his young adult life just trying to figure out who he is. The Director of the actual game, Hajime Tabata, has even gone so far as to say that his sense of ennui — his listlessness — is one of his defining traits, and it shows in his character. He has doubts over ever assuming the responsibilities of being king of Lucis and actively avoids doing any work that would make him look like an actual prince. He daydreams, he falls asleep during car rides (all the time), and he keeps a quiet, reserved demeanor in an attempt to make it seem he has it together more than he really does.
This isn't to say that he isn't a spoiled, pampered child, though. Noctis is also prone to an inflated ego that is no doubt credited to the fact that he is sole heir to the throne, someone who possesses infinitely powerful abilities as a result of his royal blood. He has been a rebellious soul from the days of his youth, acting more on the behest of his own motives, wants and desires over those of his friends, family or even his kingdom. His recklessness is often a pain point of his best friends and protectors, Gladiolus and Ignis, as they constantly work to remind him of his overall responsibilities. He shuns basic things that any adult should have at least learned by now, i.e. cooking and cleaning, and is overall a pain in the ass to deal with.
That same ennui serves as a contradiction, though, because while he shares some typical traits with children born and raided in a royal family, he has somehow taught himself what it means to be a humble and modest individual. From electing to go to a public school (where he meets Prompto, his best friend!!) as opposed to private teachings and living on his own (read: living with his man-servant who does everything for him, Ignis) in an average home has helped him ground himself with the people of his city, and has also helped develop the kindness that he lets out in the open every once in a while. This is seen in how he actually befriended young Prompto, a boy who had his own skepticism about his future, and when he becomes enthused about mundane things like video games or throws ridiculous amounts of affection towards animals of any variety.
At his root, Noctis is shown to ultimately go to great lengths for his friends and out of the goodness of his heart. A few examples are: taking blame for Iris sneaking out so she would not be penalized as a child, delivering items for Cindy for free as a way of paying her back for helping with the Regalia, and even befriending animals along their road trip. As much of a brat he can be, a recurring trait for Noctis revolves around just doing the right thing and looking out for his friends and allies who have done the right thing for him as well.
Those later traits are balanced delicately with the looming fate of the future constantly weighing on his shoulders. He is a young man just barely out of his teens, and yet, he knows he cannot choose what to do with his life as he gets older. He enjoys video games and chilling with his friends now, fully aware that as he gets older, such opportunities will become rarer and rarer until they no longer exist. Noctis only needs to look to his father as an example — someone who forged bonds with individuals he so much as speaks to once a year if lucky. It is a future he dreads to live in, and as a result, he forces himself to actually act his age, which takes up in the form of him goofing around or cracking wise remarks towards both people he knows and complete strangers.
He is being pulled at a point very late in the game, though, so it should be noted that he has been subjected to a variety of circumstances that dramatically alter his views on a variety of things. Regis' passing has long since settled in his mind, and on top of that, he has had to contend with the death of his betrothed, Lunafreya, and the sacrifices all of his close friends have dealt with leading up to the end of their journey.
Throughout this entire journey, these two events impact and sober his demeanor. Lunafreya and King Regis are the only two individuals out of his close relationships that truly tether him back to nobility. Regis' passing is the first moment of acceptance that there is no going back to the way things used to be. He is bitter that he was completely incapable of stopping either death from happening. With Regis, he was not there to defend his father nor Insomnia from the impending attack, only finding out about such tragic events through the news of all things. On the flip side, Lunafreya's deathblow was mere feet from him, but he still finds himself powerless to stop Ardyn's plan from making Noctis suffer come to fruition. The part that obviously affects him the most is how she manages to save his life even as hers begins to fade away. Lunafreya's death offers a significant blow to his original motivations and threatened to completely unravel him.
In an attempt to combat the trauma from everything, his personality dipped to an all-time low. Distant, angry, eager to blow up on anyone willing to be his verbal punching bag; not even Gladio's scolding and Prompto's cheery optimism could change his disposition. A deep-rooted issue begins to show itself more at this point in his character development: his guilt over others sacrificing themselves. Reflecting on his kind-hearted nature, he feels a sense of bitter privilege that he is somehow more worthy than others to live. It is a tough pill to swallow and it weighs on him heavily. However, despite his emotional moments, he does try to reign himself in the best he can. Only when he's truly accepting the task of being the one True King does he start seeing a change for the better. While he's always felt obliged to pursue his noble lineage and not just run away from it, it is here where his heart begins to accept his duty, knowing it would be the only true way to honor Regis, Lunafreya and even all of Lucis. Ultimately, he comes to terms with being groomed to replace his father, but not until the Ring of Lucii is given to him by Lunafreya and after realizing he can rely on his friends to keep him on the right path as opposed to thinking only of himself.
Noctis has just entered the Crystal inside Zegnautus Keep prior to waking in Thesa Station. He's spoken to Bahumut, the Astral whom passes on the heavy news that he would be said True King. Being told that he is the only thing preventing Eos, his world, from being enveloped in darkness at the cost of his own life is one thing. Waking up to find out that his world is gone before he even has the chance to try is another. This will no doubt affect him on a multitude of levels, and he will guilt himself for not acting on his duties as King until it had been too late. Even with the Orbiters explaining what happened, it won't stop him from blaming himself. Oh, and Ardyn. Definitely Ardyn. That being said, the entire journey through Zegnautus Keep (and even the chapters leading up to the penultimate moment in the game) shapes how Noctis currently is. He is more of a leader and willing to call the shots as opposed to letting the current take him, in a sense, like he had been during the beginning of his road trip when political events controlled his every next step. He respects what his friends have done for him and will be more open to trust others instead of relying on just himself. But seriously, fuck Ardyn.
Powers/Abilities:
■ THE POWER OF KINGS ― Really, this is just a broad overview of the number of powers granted to him for being a part of the Lucis blood line. Listed below are specifics:
◆ ARMIGER — A physical manifestation of the power of kings bestowed upon him. It allows him to, through the use of magic, summon a series of Royal Arms given to him by his ancestors through the passing of knowledge after finding their appropriate tomb. They can all be wielded separately at the cost of taking form his health and exhausting him more than normal weapons would. He can also summon all thirteen simultaneously during extremely limited periods of time, and during said timeframe, Noctis can "lend" the Royal Arms to other people to use while in effect.■ THE RING OF THE LUCII — A ring that allows Noctis to wield the true power of the Crystal in Eos. At the cost of exchanging even more life force than his normal abilities, he is able to use truly powerful spells that only those wielding the jewelry can use.
◆ WARP MAGIC — A form of teleportation magic that allows Noctis to transport himself from one point to another at varying distances. Can be used to climb several stories through the use of throwing his blade towards his intended destination, and is also used defensively to evade the attacks of his opponent. As with everything involving his powers, he is only capable of using it so much before becoming tired. It also serves as a "logical" means for him to store all equipped weapons and objects he uses often such as his fishing rod, allowing him to make them appear and disappear as he sees fit. Yeah. It's weird.
◆ ELEMANCY — Another specific form of magic that is more concentrated. Noctis is capable of extracting natural elements from the world of Eos (and Nysa, by theory) to store into special flasks that allow them to be used for battling or healing purposes. This allows for a multitude of combinations in terms of elements combined or the way in which they are disbursed out onto the battlefield. Said flasks can also be given to other people to use as well.
◆ SUMMONING — Those in the line of Lucis are capable of forging covenants with the Astrals of his world, which are the equivalents of gods. Noctis can summon any of the Astrals that he has formed pacts with, though the manner of doing so is usually during duress and where he is at in Eos.
Inventory:
• Engine Blade — a present that his father, King Regis, gave him during his 16th birthday. Is capable of being stored away through his warp magic.Incentives:
• Cell phone + charger — albeit with no service, but alas! Nostalgia. Don't let him lose his precious gacha characters.
• Ring of the Lucii — on his finger; again, not powered.
• Royal Raiment attire — clothes on his back upon waking up.
•To "revive" Lunafreya and King Regis; he wouldn't be aware of them being asleep in the stasis pods, so to eventually specify...
• Keep Lunafreya and King Regis safe until they awaken
• Apply that to pretty much everyone in the kingdom of Lucis or Eos that made it through the end of the world while you're at it
