Over 70 Years of Ball
The original league was known as “Oak Ridges/Lake Wilcox Ball League”. It offered both softball and baseball programs since its inception in 1951. The name was subsequently changed to “Richmond Hill North Ball League” when Oak Ridges was amalgamated into the Town of Richmond Hill. It changed again to “Ward 5 Minor Ball Association” when the Town of Richmond Hill reorganized its electoral wards. In 1973, the name “Oak Ridges Minor Ball Association” (ORMBA) was adopted and was legally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization.
In 2008, the board of directors decided the organization needed a change. With the diverse and increased competition of sport in our community, Oak Ridges Minor Ball Association adopted a new name for our house league teams. The “Oak Ridges Rebels” were born. A new logo was created to solidify the identity of the newly named teams, and new style uniforms were purchased to help identify the “Rebels”.
