Kanton's Big # 5

This cowboy is 5!!!

Image
Every cowboy has to have guns in holsters and Kanton waited for these for a long, long time.

Opening birthday presents first thing in the morning

Kanton got to invite his buddy Judd over to play for the day. We went to McDonald's for lunch and then to the park for the big birthday party!
Image
Kanton had talked about having a cowboy cake for months. He knew exactly how he wanted it to look and he decorated it himself. He was a pretty proud boy.

Kanton is such a funny boy and keeps us laughing constantly! He is such a joy to have in our family. We love you so much Kanton!!!

Ray's b-day

Ray's birthday was nice....I try talking him out of working on his birthday every year and this time he finally gave in! He opened presents, relaxed a bit, ate funfetti birthday cake, his favorite, and we went out to dinner as a family. It was even a pleasant dinner without any drama from the kids, yay!

random pics

These boys adore riding bikes. It is so nice it is warm outside so they can go out and ride them. My walls were getting a little bit torn up from them wanting to bring their bikes in the house to ride. Thank goodness for summer!

Catfish galore!!!

ImageThese fish were caught on a trot line. All together they caught around 25 fish in about 4 days. Our boys were thrilled, to say the least!
There was lots of fish cleaning going on around our house all week and we even had a fish fry.

Pinewood Derby

Another year, another Pinewood Derby.....

Brig's car was a bullet. A lot of work went into that car and Brig was really hoping it was going to be faster than a "speeding bullet". So he is really excited to go race his car and what do you know, it was a re-run of last year. He had the slowest car there.....he even lost to the token slow car. Poor kid was so sad and I got the giggles just thinking what luck we have that this happened two times in a row and I could not stop laughing. I'm sure everyone else there thought I was a terrible mother. Not one of my best mother moments! But hey, it kept Brig from crying at least! Grandma and Papa Mills and Ray had a few laughs over it too. Sorry Brig. :)

Well we got all the way to the end of the races and Uncle Dan came and saved the day with some fabulous graphite to try on the car. Brig ended up winning his last race, finally, and even beat some of the faster cars after the races were over. Nice save Uncle Dan!! That ended the night on a good note and Brig was happy after all.

Come to find out we were using the wrong kind of graphite and it is the same thing we used last year. It made the wheels squeak and extremely slow. Brig is already looking forward to next year because now he knows how to have a faster car.

Look mom, no training wheels!!

A couple of days ago I walked with the kids while they rode bikes around the neighborhood. I noticed that Kanton looked like he wasn't really needing his training wheels and I told him we should try taking them off soon to see how he would do without them.

The next day Traci came over to watch the kids for me for a few minutes and when I came home I saw this........

Image
Kanton asked Traci to hold the bike up for him while he started out and he just took off!

Brig's Flag Raising

Brig's class was in charge of the flag raising ceremony for March at the school . Brig and his friend Tripp Nestor got to fold the flag while another student told what each fold represented. They did such a good job!

Brig's friend Jacob Ballard has the cutest little pony! He rode it over to our house one day and our boys LOVED it! Jacob was sweet to let them all take a turn riding.......
