Mission and Vision
Despite its promising potential and substantial R&D investments, the bioeconomy sector is progressing slowly, particularly in rural and peri-urban areas. This slow pace is due to several barriers, including a lack of understanding, limited market awareness, insufficient skills and resources, and underdeveloped value chains.
To overcome these obstacles, the RIBES project mission is to advance the circular bioeconomy by rapidly deploying regional bioeconomies into 10 European regions that lag behind, enhancing governance structures and fostering stakeholder engagement.

Building strong collaboration networks to ensure better-informed decisions and robust science-policy connections.
Innovate
Enhancing social innovation of bio-based capacity in rural areas through better-informed governance and social inclusion.
Promoting local-scale innovation and citizen engagement, with a focus on social enterprises that benefit rural populations.
Accelerate
Accelerating the economic and social transformation of 10 European regions lagging in innovation
Speeding up the replication of RIBES bio-based innovation model at a national and international level.
