MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS AND FAMILY…2014 in a Nutshell
We started the year spending most of our time snuggling our new baby brother.
It didn’t take long for Bennett to fall into the lazy Saturday morning routine with the other 3.
Mason continues to play soccer every fall and spring….AND LOVES IT!
(His favorite position is goalie)
Nickie took the kids up to Utah for Spring break to introduce them to the snow. The older three loved it, not sure why Bennett was not a fan…haha!
In April, WE MOVED TO MESA!
We love our new home and our very friendly neighborhood! I think it’s no surprise what the kids like most about the new house…
Nickie especially loves the big front room where she teaches tumbling classes.
Nickie’s first victims (I mean students) were Sadie, Mason and Kendyl. The girls have really taken a liking to it…Mason on the other hand just enjoys the social hour with his friends. Nickie’s classes filled quickly with 30 students and counting. It’s been fun for Nickie to live vicariously through other people who are still young enough to bend and flip.
Here’s Kendyl’s new trick:
And here’s Sadie’s:
Sadie is also on the Dance Company at a local studio, as well as taking piano. She’s the girl that likes to dabble in a little bit of everything!
With the move…Bennett’s first 6 months FLEW BY!
Spent the summer trying to brave the heat and still enjoy the outdoors as well. Visiting Tonto National Bridge
In June, Rich’s parents come home off their 3 year mission in Mexico.
We vacationed in Newport in July. Here we are at the Huntington Beach Pier.
In August… we picked the child that LEAST talks back to us and flew him to Hawaii. We thought this would motivate the other kids to be better behaved…so far it’s not working!
Leaving the other three home to start school…
(5th grade, 3rd grade…and Kinder)
In August, we woke up to beach front property. The field next to our neighborhood flooded. People brought out sailboats, jet ski’s etc. My kids had fun swimming in it.
Mason was baptized. So proud of him!

In September…Applewood Animal Hospital FINALLY opened their doors after a two month delay. Rich is now a solo practitioner which means he occasionally works longer hours, and has a longer commute, but he is REALLY enjoying the new clinic and the staff is amazing!

The official GRAND OPENING happened in early November. We love the picture of our turtle in Rich’s office.

And the kids loved meeting some of the new clients…

We always enjoy when the weather cools off. Fall is our favorite! And going to the pumpkin patch is how we celebrate that we survived another sultry summer.
Sadie was BORN TO ACT!!! In November, she put her natural born skills to work in Peter Pan.
Bennett turned ONE in November.
Rich did the 75 mile El Tour race in Tucson a couple of weeks ago
Kendyl didn’t feel like being a cheerleader that day, so we left her home at a friends house.
We were SO EXCITED to have my family down for Thanksgiving. We were really sad when one of my brother’s family came down with the stomach flu and couldn’t make it.
The traditional “After Turkey Dog pile on Uncle Roger” moment. Just wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without it!
This is what it looks like when “Utahans go CRAZY!”. Our weather may be warm…but our water is not.
The best word to sum up 2014 for our family would be CHANGE! Lot’s of good change, some sad change (like moving away from great friends), change in our health, change in our habits, and still in the process of some needed change. What a ride this year has been for us! We have felt so blessed through all of our moves that our friendships with you still carry through with us no matter where we call home. It has been such a blessing through technology to stay in touch with many of you. Our family and friends mean the world to us! Most of all, we are thankful for the relationship we have with our SAVIOR! Because of him we can find happiness through the many directions life takes us. He brings true happiness and love, and has set an example for us to live by. His birth and atonement is by far our greatest blessing! Hope this season finds your family doing well and happy. You are in our thoughts and wish we could wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS in person.

Pent up energy
Due to the extreme heat, the kids always have a lot of pent up energy. The neighborhood kids have discovered a fun cool place to get their wiggles out….MY HOUSE! I don’t mind a bit. In fact, I love that I have a room for my kids to get crazy in and I don’t have to worry about them breaking something.
I love this room! Mostly because it makes me feel young again. I sometimes feel like I might be able to do flips down these mats like I used to when I was young. But since I’m too old for that…I find so much fulfillment teaching it to others. Teaching tumbling makes me so happy!

Back together again…
Rich’s parents came home from their mission on Friday afternoon, and by Monday THE WHOLE FAMILY…EVERYONE….met up in California. It’s really rare when every member of their family (all 9 kids, spouses and children) can get together. Because one brother is in the Navy, and a handful are still in college etc. We had such a good time. It’s been fun being one of the oldest in this family, to watch the younger siblings get married and start families of their own.
We stayed at the Newport Marriott Villas…it’s gorgeous there! Our villa overlooked the Ocean. It was perfect!
Searching for sand crabs
Bennett’s like his momma…. he was hoping for warm tropical water. That’s not what we got!
Huntington Shops
The ANGRY FACE. He makes this face all the time.
Walking the pier and watching the surfers
These two…such cute cousins. I have a feeling in a couple of months when Bennett has teeth this won’t be so fun anymore.
Love this picture of Mason. Captures his love of the ocean!
Catching crabs
Rich got soooooo fried on day one, so he spent the rest of the week hiding from the sun
Headed into the Long Beach Aquarium
Seal torpedo about to make contact
BOOOOM!
Wow this post is getting too long. I will have to finish up another time.
