Hubby and I got back today from Arizona. It was a lovely four day-weekend. I finally SLEPT! It must be the air mattress because I have not had such restful nights in a long, long time! :) Our friends, Sepi and Martin, were consummate hosts. If you are ever in Arizona, you have to check out their hotel, I mean, home. :)

Their annual Halloween Party was a hit as usual. Loads of scary decorations, ghoulish and trampy costumes, good food, and funny conversations. My sister went as a cowgirl. Hubby went as #%ck in a box. Glad to know that most of the guests got the costume. Someone asked him if he was a present. Ha! I went as  a pirate, but my sister thought it looked more like a KUNG FU pirate with the head band. Yes, we are so tasteful and so regal. Hey, it’s better than last year’s costume! Ha!

We visited some scrapbook stores, too. I’ve never been to a Recollections before and it was spectacular! I loved it! So much scrappy goodness. It’s a shame they are closing down. We also hit IKEA and picked up some little jars and some odds and ends that fit in our carry-ons.

All in all, the weekend was relaxing and much needed! :)

Chemistry between two people is unexplainable. I am always amazed when I look at a couple and wonder what makes them stay together, get married, and build a life together. Attraction is easy. He’s got a nice butt and BIG hands. We all know what that means. She’s got a great smile and a great pair of legs and boobs. I get the sexual part of a relationship. It’s when it gets to the hard stuff, the better or worse part, that makes a person take a deep breath and take stock of what their marriage means to them, what their partner means in their life.

Jeff and I have gone through some difficult times in our years together. The infertility is a BIG thing. It’s never just about an incident. Our everyday life was altered dramatically and our hopes and dreams for a future were dashed. Pills, doctor’s appointments, raging hormones, ultrasounds, timed sex, lab work, shots. It consumed our lives. And when we decided to put the fertility treatments on hold for a while, it was a relief for me and my body. The mental anguish, the inconsolable crying was just too much for me and my husband. During that time, I found out how it was to be married. Truly MARRIED. To be one with the other, all decisions made together and for each other. And it has made us stronger as a couple.

Something life changing has happened to us lately. And I guess it doesn’t just happen to one of us because it affects us both again in our lives. Needless to say it’s one of the "worse" parts. It’s a time when we need to encourage each other, lift each other up, and be each other’s soft place to fall. I don’t mean to be cryptic. No one is dying or losing a penis. No one is taking away cheesecake forever. No, it’s not the end of the world. But now, I am reminded again of our vows to each other. I want to grow old with my redheaded husband, who builds things with leftover wood scraps, who religiously checks the doors and windows every night, who loves his parents, who crosses himself when an ambulance whizzes by, who kisses my forehead ever so gently, who brushes his teeth in the other bathroom when I am still asleep, who thinks my crazy family is funny, who still touches my belly praying for a baby. I want to be married to this man for a very long time.

I just wanted to say that.

I have been trying to get on that darn treadmill at least 5 days a week/30 minutes a day and there hasn’t been a noticeable change in the weight department, give or take a few pounds (probably because I’m still having a love affair with cream cheese and KFC) so I’ve decided not to weigh my ass anymore. Hrmph. I decided to get on the scale today and I have lost 6.5 pounds in 2 weeks. So moral of the story is: one cannot live on exercise alone (or chocolate fudge brownie or cake or spam and eggs). I have to change the way I eat. Darnitall! That’s ok though. I found a Ben & Jerry’s alternative. I love me some Skinny Cow ice cream and it satisfies my sugar cravings, plus it’s low in fat and sugar! Yay!

Just wanted to share hubby’s card. Very simple and masculine. :) I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. It’s great at helping me line up stamps on my cards, especially letters and words (i.e. "happy" and "birthday" stamps). It’s definitely a must-have for all you stampers out there!

Today, 35 years ago, Jeffrey Scott popped out of my mother-in-law’s womb. I think his mom sneezed and out he came. All 5.5 pounds of him! Happy birthday, my husband, from your most favorite person in the whole world. I mean, your wife.

Just thought I would share my latest creation, a Favorite Recipe Circle Journal using K&Company’s Amy Butler paper. Love these papers! So girly and bright! I also used the Plantin Schoolbook font that came with the Cricut Expressions.

I’ve been streamlining my pages lately. I’ve come to the conclusion that my style is clearly SIMPLE. And to veer away from that style is uncomfortable and too time consuming. I’ve decided to embrace my basic style and just do what I do best. Clean and bright and simple. Not the most innovative, but it works for me. :)

Guess what arrived at my doorstep! :) I am feeling a bit under the weather but this can sure make a sickly girl feel better!
