Week 4 Fantasy Football

In defense of the fine pictures my wife so kindly took, I have to say I dressed like that on purpose.  What that purpose was, I don’t know.

Here are the results from week 4, and the current standings:

10. WT Power 1-3-0 .250 281 L-3 1 2

As you can see, I lost in another heart breaker to Wright Nation.  I should have won, I switched Selvin Young in for Correll Buckhalter at the last minute.  If I would have played Buckhalter, I would have won.  By the way, props to Drew because he told me to play Buckhalter, should have listened.  In other match-ups, Drew (Blaze) killed Adam’s team, and Tyler (Vikingur) killed Wes’s team (I think 38 points is an all-time low).  Wade’s team (Porkers) beat Fraizer (Crazy Horses) to remain undefeated, and Regulators squeaked out over Dud’s team.

Revenge of the Nerd…

Honestly there are days that I truly wonder where I got him. He always tells me it was in the “used section” but seriously…look at him! The other day Taylor asked Rick to come out and play some basketball with him and his friend Hayden. Taylor’s favorite thing is when Rick shoots hoops with him and it isn’t very often he can talk Rick into it since it always seems Taylor asks at the hottest possible time of day. As you can see from the pictures it was getting a little later in the evening so Rick agreed. He told Tay that he needed to change into some different clothes and then he would be right out. I was in the middle of cleaning up from dinner and talking on the phone to my Aunt Mel when I turn around and see this sitting at the stairs tying his shoes to go out! Honestly, I bet people were driving by our backyard thinking “Oh how nice; those little boys let that big nerdy kid play ball with them!” I am not sure if he was out of clean matching clothing or just going for comfort, but for any of you who know what a pretty boy my husband is this is probably one of the worst matched outfits I have ever seen on him. I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures to share the joy with the rest of you. My husband makes me laugh all the time and I love it!

In other news, I am getting to be the size of a barn now and am not quite sure how this ball in the front of me can get bigger but I know it is inevitable! People keep telling me I am not even showing though (really, do they think this makes me feel better??) and it makes me wonder how pregnant I must have looked before I really was-better borrower my sister’s turbo jam once I pop the little dude out! The little guy is moving like crazy and the Dr. says he looks very healthy from the ultra sound photos and that makes mommy very happy.

Bennett seems to go back and forth about how she feels about her new brother. One minute she is excited to have him and see what he looks like, and then just a couple of days ago she told me that poor people give away their babies and since we are poor (I am guessing this is because Rick is back to being a starving student), we should probably give away ours too. Such a drama queen…I re-assured her that we would be fine to take care of the baby and that we weren’t going to be giving him away. Where do kids come up with this stuff? I have included the first picture I have taken of the prego belly so you can all see how “not pregnant” I am getting.

Fantasy Football Week 3

Well, I lost again.  I had Ronnie Brown on the bench and he went off for 41 points, who would have known???  Here are the results from this week.

Tyler’s defense scored 24 points and his kicker had another 14, that sucks!!  Drew had a bad showing against Wright Nation.  He had 3 players left going into Monday night, but they could only muster 14 points combined.  Porkers beat Adam, and is off to a strong 3-0 start.  Crazy horses came back from 25 points down to beat Mitchell, and Dud came back from 40 down to beat Wes by 14!!  Here are the standings after week 3.

Well better luck to myself next week.  In other great news my best bud Jair Almaraz had a beautiful baby girl Sunday afternoon.  Little Anika Almaraz was small at only 5lbs 13ounces.  They came home today and everyone is doing good.  Congrats Jair & Renee!!

Fantasy Football Week 2

Well, I actually won my game this week……….so I got that going for me……..which is nice. Here are the results from week 2.

Big-Un’s 08-09 121 WT Power 91 – Complete domination by yours truly

Blaze 91 Vikingur 90 – This was very lucky, Drew needed 11 points from Jason Whitten, and he scored exactly 11.

PORKERS 117 WRIGHT NATION 115 – Eric W. almost pulled off a great comeback….so close!

Regulators 117 Adzmat’s Team 86 – Not to mention Regulators was missing a guy!

Crazy Horses 125 Duds Boys 75 – Fraizer looked really good, as he always does.

Here are the standings after week 2.

Wade and Drew are both undefeated and so far Dudley’s team looks…….well, not good. Some good match ups this week with Drew playing Wright Nation, and me player Tyler.

Fantasy Football Week 1

So, I decided it would be fun to do a weekly recap of our fantasy football league (yahoo league only since it is the funnest).  Each week I will recap the winners and losers and anything else of importance.  It was a very bad week for Drew as his quarterback (Tom Brady) went down for the rest of the season.  Drew did have the highest scoring player of the week in Micheal Turner, who ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns.  Here are the weekly results:

Blaze (Drew) beat Big-Un’s (Rick) 119-87

Porkers (Wade) beat Vikingur (Tyler) 100-74

Wright Nation (Eric) beat Regulators (Brian) 103-93

Adzmat’s (Adam) Team beat Duds Boys (Dudley) 72-52

WT Power (Wes) beat Crazy Horses (Fraizer) 70-66

Here are the current standings.

It’s a boy!!

Well, we went to Ali’s Ultrasound appointment Wednesday the 3rd. It is official, we say a wee wee. He gave us a great full monty view so there was no guessing. Needless to say I was very happy, Ali was stoked as well. She didn’t really care what the sex was, but she had been calling it a little boy the last few months so she was glad she wasn’t giving the poor guy a complex or anything. It was really fun to go to the Ultrasound, we took the kids and my mom came as well. Taylor is very excited he is getting a brother; I think Bennett is a little pissed off. Since we found out, we went shopping on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday picking out tons of cool clothes. Additionally, Ali found a cute little baby boy outfit that she bought for a baby shower about 6 months ago (ummm……whomever that was for I am very sorry) and decided it was so cute she was now just going to keep it instead. We also registered at Target and Babies R Us over the weekend, so we are pretty set.

On a different note, I started my Master’s program on Friday night and really enjoyed it. My professor is really cool and the class structure is awesome.

Finally look for a post on Monday detailing the first week of Fantasy Football (Spanish Fork League only)

Excited..

I am way excited that in only 5 days we are going to find out if we are having a boy or a drama queen.  Seriously though, if anyone could please pray for us to have a boy that would be great.  Don’t get me wrong, a girl would work I guess, it just seems like Bennett is so much more high maintenance than Taylor.  Also, Bennett never sits and watches Jazz games with me, I mean what’s that about.  Ok, most of this post is sarcasm and I will love whatever we have, but we are very excited to find out!!!

Vegas baby yeah………

So a few weeks ago Taylor asked us what we were going to do for a family vacation this year.  We typically do something Disney.  Since I have known Ali (March-ish of 2005) we have been to Disneyland several times and Disneyworld twice.  The Disneyworld trips were by far the coolest, the first being our honeymoon, and the second being with Drew & Courtney and their family.  Anyway this really doesn’t have to do with our Vegas trip, but I miss Disney stuff so I am just venting.  Anyway back to Taylor’s question, we had originally planned to go out to California over Christmas break, but Ali’s doctor doesn’t want her traveling that close to her due date.  So when Taylor’s question came up we quickly scrambled because we felt like a family vacation is important.  Ali took off 3 days (plus a full weekend of course) from work and we were off to sin city.   I was talking to my good buddy Jair about our impromptu vacation and he surprised us by booking his timeshare for us (nothing like free Vegas lodging).

So we drove down to St. George Saturday and stayed at Jair house (thanks again).  Sunday morning we drove down to Vegas and went to the Adventuredome at Circus Circus.  It was actually pretty fun, there were a bunch of cool rides for Taylor and I, a few rides for Bennett, but not really anything for pregnant women.

Monday we went to the great Hoover Dam.  Anyone who has been there knows how cool that “dam” thing is.  It was fun to see it again, I don’t think I had been there for 10-12 years.  The only problem was we all melted due to the 110 degree heat.  Taylor thought he was going to die………..but he didn’t.

Tuesday we went school shopping at some of the outlets in Vegas and then saw the “V” Variety show at the Planet Hollywood hotel.  We also rode the roller coaster at the New York, New York.

The trip ended fast and we drove back home on Wednesday.  We did a bunch of other cool things, we wandered through a bunch of hotels, went swimming everyday, ate at some cool places, etc.  It wasn’t much, and certainly wasn’t as fun as Disneyland, but it was better than Chevy Chase’s Vegas Vacation.  Just a side note, I never recommend going to Las Vegas during the middle of the summer with a pregnant wife and a seven year old drama queen.

Tile….

So my wife has been dropping hints over the last year or so that she wanted tile in our kitchen.  We always have people over on the 24th of July, so the hints were getting louder and louder prior to that.  So the first week or so of July I told her that I would get it done before the 24th of July.  We had many ideas, but for various reasons we decided to tile directly on top of the existing vinyl flooring.  We consulted with a couple of neighbors who had done it this way to see how they did it.  We were told that prior to laying the tile, we must score the vinyl giving it a rougher surface for the thin-set to adhere to……that’s when all the trouble started.

I scored the first little bit of vinyl and immediately the vinyl started to lift up.  It was so paper thin and obviously glue only sporadically.  So at that point we decided we had to rip up the vinyl (by we I mean my brother Bill and I).  That turned out to be a big pain in the……umm…well you know.  On a side note, we had planned for this project to take only a few days.  We started on a Saturday morning and planned on having the tile down by Saturday night, grouting on Monday.  Back to the story, it took us all day Saturday to rip up the vinyl.  We finished around 5pm and realized the vinyl was put down on particle board.  I talked to a couple people and “googled” laying tile on particle board and found out this idea sucks (the reason being, the water in the thin-set breaks down the particle board, etc).  So we decided the best thing to do would be lay down some backer board on top of the particle board.  We made another trip to the freaking Home Depot and got home with all the new supplies around 8:30 pm.  Upon laying down the first piece of backer board my drill broke, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought a new one.  We layed down a few pieces and called it a night.  We started again Sunday hoping to finish the backer board by noon or so.  Well…around 4pm we finished the backer board and had to go to my parents house for dinner.  After dinner, we went home, set up the chalk line, and finally got going.  We finished laying down 15 or 20 tiles and called it a night.  Monday we finished laying all the full pieces and let the tile sit until Wednesday night.  Ali took the kids down to her moms house on Wednesday while Bill and I worked on the cut pieces.  We finished around 2am early Thursday morning.  We were kind of pressed for time because we were all leaving for a family reunion Friday morning.  So Bill came over once again and we grouted the tile Thursday night.  I am very glad we did the tile, the hardest parts were having our fridge in the living room for a week, the stove in the garage, and everything kitchen related just a total mess.

I don’t think I painted the picture near as bad as it really was, it was truly one of the biggest pains I have ever encountered.

Busy Week…

Well……..hopefully this post will contain stuff more meaningful than sports (for my wife’s sake).  This past week was a very busy one.  I will give you a little round-up, followed with some pictures.

On Monday our men’s softball team had a tournament game against Huffs who we had beaten both times this season.  Our team committed about 15 errors and of course we ended up losing, sending us to the losers bracket with a game on Friday.

On Wednesday Ali picked up the kids after work and we went directly to Pier 49 pizza to meet up with Courtney & Drew and fam, and Paul & Becky.  We waited 30 minutes for our pizza only to find out they accidentally didn’t get it into the oven………..agghhhhhh…….so we had to make our way over to the Rodeo and had hamburgers there.  For those of you who haven’t been to the Rodeo, it is really kind of cool except for it is too long and the seats are 8 inches wide (and my butt isn’t).

On Thursday I had to wake up early because me, Drew, and Courtney were running the Speedy Spaniard 10k (about 6.2 miles) which started at 6:30am.  Ali, Taylor, and Bennett also woke up early because Taylor was running the Mile fun run at 7:30.  The race finished at the Park (Drew kicked my butt by 5 minutes FYI) and we stayed there to eat the Pancake breakfast.  The parade started at 9am, and then we lounged around at the park until noon or so.  Later that night we went to the Carnival and then had a big BBQ at my house prior to the fireworks that evening.

On Friday Bennett celebrated her birthday with her friends.  They all went to Bon Losee and got up-do’s and their nails painted.  Friday night brought back the men’s softball tournament.  We won our first game by forfeit and lost the second game by one run (lame……).

Saturday we woke up and let Bennett open her presents, and then went up to Ali’s family reunion at Jordanelle.  We came back and were going to go swimming at the Payson pool, but it looked like it was going to rain so we came back and played with friends.  That night we let Bennett choose where we ate, and she chose The Mayan up in SLC.  We came home and finished the night with Cold Stone and a game of Disney Bingo.

Tonight we are going to Grandma Becky’s to swim in her pool and celebrate Bennett’s b-day with Ali’s family.  So that is our crazy week, we enjoyed seeing many of you over that last few days.  We are grateful to have so many friends and family close by.
