Larry The Cucumber.....

The first product of our GARDEN!!
Jesse and the kids planted a garden of a bunch of vegetables and strawberries. So far this is the first thing we could actually eat. A few of the tomatoes got feasted on by birds. We did eat one of the beefsteak tomatoes, but it was about 1/4 of the size that it was supposed to be. It was really tasty and sweet. I never actually knew how yummy veggies straight out of the garden tasted. Hopefully we get much more, if we can keep everything alive!

Don't Get Fooled!>}"/

Like I was.......

Image

So, I thought I would be a good mom and make the kids some treats for their halloween parties at school. I found this mold pan at target for brownie pops, thought it was so cute and fun and got all the fixins and decorations. It couldn't be that hard to bake some brownies in a mold and dip them and decorate.HAHA--- Boy was I a sucker! Ten hours and 50 brownie pops later, they were finally finished and did NOT look like the ones in the picture. FYI> Don't try to dip brownies in candy melts, it is very difficult and doesn't come out all nice and smooth like you want. Maybe I'm just not an expert at the candy melt dipping but it was a royal pain in the rear end!

My little helper, loves to cook.

All done....

My version of the target
brownie pop molds.

Even though they weren't perfect, the kids really loved them and were so excited to pass them out at school. All that work and they were devoured in seconds! {IF} I ever try that again, we need to work on that candy coat dipping thing, but it probably won't happen for a while.

BLING-BLING!!!

For quite a while Madisen has been asking if she could get her ears pierced. Everytime we would got to the mall and pass the Claires store she would shout, "can I get my ears pierced today!" I would tell her not yet, we need to wait for Dad to come and I need to have my camera. I explained to her that she has to leave them in her ears and we need to clean them every day or they get infected. I also had to explain to her that she doesn't wear earrings like mommy, just little girl ones. Well that day came when dad was at the mall with us and we passed the store and of course she asked her same old question again. We finally said yes! I didn't come prepared with my camera so we used the cellphone and took after pics. She was so excited and had NO clue what was about to happen!! She picked out little pink flower earrings and they pierced both sides at once. Good thing they did that because otherwise she would be a one earring girl right now if not. Initially she didn't flinch until about 5 seconds after it was over, and then she let out a burst of tears and cried, I don't know if it really did hurt or the noise of the piercing guns just shocked her. It was kind of funny though.

Jesse's cousin Chandra took these pictures. I had to choose from about 150 photos of which ones to post, they were all soooo cute!!
She does photo shoots and is very reasonably priced and gives you the disc with all your pics.

School is in Session

We were so ready to get back in school. Well at least I was ready for the break from the kids. The summer always seems to go by faster and faster every year, but come August the days are just so hot and unless we are in the pool the kids just whine that they are bored of being at home. We did a lot this summer between vacations, b-days, playdates, swimming, movies, and just not having any schedule at all! I like the freedom of no schedule but it was time for some normal bedtime hours and some alone time for mom. Mason is in 3rd grade and Mady goes to preschool 3 days a week.

These are a few photos of some of summer time playing!

Mady loves to play with Mason and his friends, this day they were playing ninjas outside even though it was 110 degrees.

Image
Mason doesn't like playing with Mady so much because she always wants him to play girl things. On this day Mason was playing dollhouse with her (after much convincing and bribery). He was so embarrassed of me taking this picture of him.

We even spent an entire day at Sunsplash.
