( Application here )INTO THE HEDGE( Image under cut. )Seeming: Possession
Role: Stone
GargoyleAbilities: Shinjiro's strength has always been his main ability: And while he retains that, it's mostly used by the fact that his limbs and other parts of his body have become so dense and-- well, made of stone. He's very difficult to injure, though, due to this-- unless it's a chisel or something.
He also has a tendency to vomit rainwater when it's storming outside. It's not really an ability, but it happens.
Description: For the most part, his frame remains the same- Tall, broad, if a bit thin-- though patches of his skin are grayed and rough, as though carved from stone-- Which they might as well be, especially with how
heavy they are. Characteristics of the gargoyle he's become have passed to him, including spiraled
ram horns beginning just above his temple and curling around his skull to just outside of his ears (and generally getting in the way of his peripheral vision,) and legs ending in rocky
hooves-- though the transition of human to beast anatomy only truly begins around the ankle. (It's as though he's constantly wearing a pair of
these shoes except they're actually his feet.)
All the additions are a worn and weathered stone, and the patches of hardened skin are mostly at his extremities and the center line of his body-- The edges of his jaw, down his spine, patches growing more homogenous down his arms and legs until they end in pure rock at his hands and bestial feet. From the mass of stone at his spine, thinner lines of it trace the curve of each rib, drawing threads of gray stone around the sides of his chest to conglomerate in a large patch running from his diaphragm up his sternum, which then branches up again across his clavicles. The stone also runs from his back over his hip bones, and becomes uniform about halfway down his shin and calf-- the same is true for his forearms, the hands and hooves entirely made of moving rock.
While his stoneskin is not immobile, his articulation and speed is definitely not what it ones was. It's also worth nothing that the thick line of stone down his spine has a
carved channel down the center, reminiscent of the water-spout serving purpose of his object form.
Also worth noting would be that his pupils are now horizontal and rectangular (such is the case with
goats and
horses) and the sclera as well as the iris are different shades of granite, with the former a paler shade than the latter.
The Gargoyle he's become serves it's purpose to decorate the outside of the home and direct rainwater away from the house, pouring from its mouth. The carved grotesque is some sort of chimera between a
horse and a
goat, which reflects his Persona (
Castor, a renowned horseman), and his stubborn nature respectively. Portions of the gargoyle, though bear and almost
skeletal appearance.
Reasoning: The theme of Shinjiro's character in game is that of stagnation: While the other party members resolve to move forward and fight for the future, Shinjiro is never able to move on, look away from the past and his own guilt. He's used as a foil in this regard, his own immobility of purpose serving to contrast every other character picking up and moving on. He's also quiet, taciturn, and occasionally imposing, which stems from with his own self-hatred-- Not to mention his strength and endurance stats are through the roof. So a stone statue, twisted and monstrous, seemed to fit him and his self-image.
Also he's kind of a hobo, so hanging out outside is cool.
