Patton at 17 Months

Image
Our Lil Guy is growing up faster than I can even comprehend! We're sure enjoying the sweet, energetic addition he is to our family! Here are some facts about Patton at 17 months:

First word: "shoe". He's obsessed with shoes! He's always carrying around our shoes or taking off his own. It should be no surprise that this was his first official word! LOL!

Other words he says: car, soap, hot (and he'll tell us when something is hot), cat, crockpot, cock-a-doodle doo, moo, trash, outside

Things he likes: PEOPLE, he LOVES to wave to everyone he sees, Franklin the cat, when Daddy comes home, going for walks, playing in his sandbox, swinging in his outside swing, helping Mommy with the dishes or sweeping the floors, swimming in Grandma's pool, playing blocks and Legos, and sitting in the rocking chair reading to himself.

Things he hates: when Mommy or Daddy leave to go somewhere, getting his fingernails clipped, not being able to do what we're doing, naptime.

Favorite foods: Strawberries, grapes, blueberries, cupcakes, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, smoothies, chocolate. He'll eat anything as long as he sees us eating it.

Least favorite foods: lettuce, hard boiled eggs. He loves ice cream, but his poor little belly can't handle it! :(.

Other facts: Patton is very tall and skinny. I just got him out of 9 month pants (it's true). He has 12 teeth. He loves to smile and make everyone else laugh. When he knows he's doing something he shouldn't, he'll give a HUGE smile and shake his head "no" because he knows that he shouldn't be doing it.

I can't believe he's almost a year and a half! We love seeing him grow and develop and we are so blessed to have him in our lives!!

Where did the first half of 2012 go?!?

Ok, so I'm so incredibly behind, but here are some pics of Patton's Easter. I would consider this more of his first Easter, since he was just a cute lump on the last Easter.

Image
This year we went to Sam's parents' house, had an incredible dinner and a really fun Easter egg hunt.

Image
Since Patton is so obsessed with putting things in buckets, this activity was right up his alley. He knew exactly what to do with the eggs. The hardest part was keeping him out of everyone else's buckets.

Image
Oh, and the fact that he kept putting all his eggs back! Haha! Next year he'll get more of the hang out it!

Image
A few days after Easter, Sam, Patton and I flew out to Maryland to visit my parents. I was STRESSING about taking a 14 month old on an airplane for 5 hours (plus a 2 hour layover), but he did amazingly well. He enjoyed the flights, and slept through most of them. He did have outbursts in the airport, but I'll take that over outbursts in a confined plane!! haha! On our first day, Nana watched Patton while Sam and I went to the Washington DC temple. What a beautifully HUGE temple! We had a good time.

Image
Also while we were in Maryland, we headed down to Virginia and saw Montpelier (James Madison's house).

Image
Nana had fun chasing Patton all around the grounds so that Sam and I could enjoy our tour of the house. Thanks Nana!

While we were in Virginia, we visited Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's house. We didn't realize it, but we actually visited his house on his birthday, so they were having all sorts of celebrations going on that day. It was pretty cool to see.

On our third day in Virginia, we headed down to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia. Obviously with naming our son Patton, we're very interested in WW2, so we LOVED this memorial. They had the most lifelike and touching statues to really give you a feel for D-Day.

Image
At the center of the memorial stands this arch and waterway. Everything in the water is symbolic of things that relate to D-Day. So they had statues of men that were trying to make it onto the shores of Omaha Beach. They had fountains which shot up and acted like bullets that were hitting the water. Everything there just really made you appreciate the sacrifice that these young men experienced.

Image
More amazing statues.

And of course you can't visit this museum without giving homage to Patton's namesake. And this quote fits our Patton to a T!

Image
When we got back to Maryland, we had to hit the Baltimore Aquarium. You know, Patton's visited more aquariums than he's visited Disneyland. He's so cultured! Haha! He loved seeing and talking to all the fishies!

Image
Talking to the fish. I wonder if he was a fish in his earlier life. Haha!

Looking ready for a nap! We had a good visit with my parents. It's always good to see them, but I still hate doing that flight with a little one. At least he'll be older when we visit them next year! :)

Back from the Dead. . .

Hello! We're back from the land of the dead. Well, actually the land of the lost camera cord (and I hate posting without putting in some pictures). But, we've found the cord and we're back in business! :). These last few months have been very busy! Here are some of the things we've been up to:

Going to Las Vegas with Daddy for a work convention. Correction, Sam went to the convention while Patton and I gallivanted around the town.

Image
Patton and I went to the Leid Children's Museum in Vegas and it was absolutely amazing!!! They had a special area just for those that are 5 years and younger, and they had everything that any toddler would LOVE to get into. Patton's flying an airplane in this pic! We start 'em off young in our house.

Image
Another activity was putting plastic food in baskets and then paying for them. Patton just LOVES putting things in baskets and buckets, so he absolutely had a field day. . .until he realized that the food was fake. . . then he just got mad. Haha.

Image
They even had a play bathroom for the kids to play in. Patton loves to flush toilets, so he was loving it. He doesn't get to play in the bathroom at home, so this was heaven for him.

Image
In another area, the kids could put foam blocks down the barrel and watch them fall to the floor below them. Patton is absolutely obsessed with trash cans (he'll find them in ANY house he goes in and then he'll bring them to me). He thought this was a trash can and so he was loving throwing things in the barrel.

Image

The next day, Patton and I headed to the Mandalay Bay Aquarium. . .that boy loves aquariums and fish! I didn't get any pics because I was too busy chasing him around the aquarium, but he had a good time.

Image
Then we headed to the conservatory in the Bellagio and looked at all the pretty flowers and fountains.

Image
My happy boy. . . for the moment. He really wanted to run around and touch all the flowers, put at least he was happy in this picture.

Image
On the way home, we stopped in Baker and ate some Carl's Jr. Patton was a big boy and had to sit next to Daddy the whole time. He loves his Daddy!

Image
In another adventure, we headed down to San Diego to visit Em and cousin Luke. We went to the SeaLife Lego Aquarium. Once again, I couldn't get any pics because I was too busy wrangling Patton. But he loved it! We also had fun eating some Sprinkles cupcakes and hanging out with Em and Luke. Patton and Luke were even holding hands as they were sitting together in the car!! Here, they're enjoying their granola bars.

Image
Most of our days we just play around the house, and it keeps the both of us so busy! I had to show a pic of Patton's awesome pimp hat! Isn't it adorable?! And he'll actually leave it on his head. . . so it's a total keeper.

Image
We're kinda obsessed with fresh fruit smoothies in our house, and Patton's probably the one that's the most obsessed. Anytime he hears my blender in usage, he runs over to it and demands to try whatever it is I'm making. Then he makes the biggest mess ever with his smoothies! Ah, dirty boys!

Image
Patton is definitely at that stage where he gets into everything, and his reach grows by the foot each day, I swear! Patton found the wipes in this pic while I was getting things ready for us to go swimming at Grandma's. At least wipes are easy to clean up, so I wasn't too upset.

Image
Getting ready to go swimming at Grandma's house. This boy loves water and he loves to go swimming. It's a good thing Grandma lives so close by!

Image
Patton LOVES his new slide that we bought for him. He'll sit on top of it and just hang out there and giggle away. It's too cute!

Image

Image
More pics of Patton getting into things. On this day, I left him alone for LITERALLY 5 minutes (if that) so that I could cut out some coupons. He crept into a bathroom, grabbed a roll of toilet paper, and unrolled the ENTIRE roll all over my house. He was so proud of his accomplishment! And I just laughed hysterically and took pictures!! Look at that devilish grin. Oh, I'm in for it. . . this boy is sneaky!

Image
Another pic of the damage!

Image
In May, Patton and I headed down to Carlsbad to hang out with Em and Luke and to go to the Carlsbad Flower Market. They had a cute tractor that takes you all around the market. The boys had a good time just looking at the flowers!

Image
A view of the flowers looking onto the ocean.

Image
Having so much fun! This boy has this habit of taking off his left shoe and sock, regardless of where he goes. He then of course eats them both. Boys are so gross!

Image
Playing in the sprinklers at his twin cousins' birthday party. The twins were scared by the sprinkler, but Patton ran right up to it and stood right in the middle of it squealing away. He loves water! And excuse his mismatched outfit. I had a meeting that morning and met Sam and Patton at the party. . .Sam dressed Patton that day. Hahah!

Image
 All drenched from the sprinkler!

Image
Patton got a little possessive of the sprinkler and decided to hit his cousin Kora in the face to move her out of his way. This pic is a classic one of him in the act. Haha!

Well, I don't want to make this post the most massive one ever, so I'm going to make a second post to share our May and April's happenings (yes, I'm that far behind!). Ah, better late than never, right?! :)

Patton Update

Image
Well, now that Patton's almost 14 months old, I suppose I should update you all on how he's doing. I'm so behind! But I have a good excuse. See my below post! haha! Here are his stats from his 12 months appointment:

Height: 30.6 inches (75th percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs, 15.8 oz (25th percentile)
Head circumference: 18.25 inches (50th percentile)

He's still tall and thin! And now that he's walking, he doesn't have any fat rolls on him at all. He's very lean, and he doesn't really look like a baby anymore! When did my baby become a toddler? I swear someone turned him into a toddler one night while he was sleeping.

Other things about Lil P:

* He currently has 11 teeth, and is getting his 12th right now. He just got 3 molar teeth this last week. His teeth all tend to come in together (thank goodness!). It's kinda nice that way!

*He's already had 3 hair cuts, and will be getting another one tonight. His hair grows super fast!

Favorite foods:
strawberries, avocadoes, grapefruits (it's absolutely true!), oranges, bread, cottage cheese, anything he can feed himself. He's an independent eater and doesn't like us to feed him.

Favorite things:
* Play with blocks and Legos
* Play on Mommy's piano
*Put lids on any containers
*Put anything in containers
*Play in trashcans (we're working on getting him to stop this one!)
*Wave and talk to anyone he sees
*He LOVES to be a helper to Mommy- unloading dishes, starting the dryer, turning off the lights
*When Daddy comes home
*Going for walks
*Playing with his best friend, Franklin the cat
*Playing on the computer or Mommy's cell phone (especially when we're not watching)

Words he can say:
Dada
Mama
nana (for banana)
sh (for shoes)
s (strawberries)
dis (what's this)
dat (what's that)

Things he doesn't like:
* Not seeing what's going on or what we're doing
*Being left alone
*Getting his nails clipped

I think that's it! He's such a happy little guy, and we absolutely gobble him up! :)
