Oh 2009, WHY!?

I am so glad this year is almost over. I have to say that the current turmoil in the world both macro and micro is a long time coming, but why does it have to be so personal with this year?

My Inspiron 6000 that I bought way back in 2003 is dead or dying, i haven't figured it out yet. I have spent most of my day today trying to dismantle and clean up the bits that I think are broken, but after the last sweep through the fucker just won't even turn on anymore. It's a sad day indeed.

I have been off this week from work, which is nice, except for the fact that they keep calling me. If the economy gods have their way we will all work at wal-mart someday, and on that day I will still be happy that it's not my this job.

The times I want to quit...

These are the days when I want to quit my MBA program. I am taking a Strategic Implementation course and was told to pick a company. I didn't read the by-line notes and used a company in the Forbes top 100 (Hewlett-Packard) while I got a good grade, I was told we were to pick one in the top 400-900. So, I not only got points taken off but now have to call my professor tomorrow and find out what I can do to fix this mess. I won't pass unless I rectify this mess.

I wasn't paying attention to the by-line notes because I have been working non-stop over the past two weeks at work and figured so long it was on the Forbes list it would be okay.

This is where the work/life balance needs to in enacted. I now have double the work to do. There are days where I regret going back to school right now when things are so busy and I am constantly not able to focus all of my attention on one thing at a time.

On Seeing Twilight on the big screen

I went to a 1:30PM Matinee yesterday. Alone. It was perfect, the wind was yowling outside, the movie theatre was chock full of tweens and teens squeeing and giggling before the movie started, and I had my small soda and snow caps. Perfect, right?

Well right at the part when Edward enters the Cafeteria for the first time and Jessica is explaining who the Cullens were to Bella, the lights went out. Like blackout lights go out no light projector goes whoooosh and I am sitting the dark with startled emo kids.

GASP

We had a minor blackout, one of many that may township suffers at the hands of NJCPL our power company.

Three minutes of quiet waiting while one Twimom walked out to see WTF happened and we were back up and right two seconds where we left of. Whew.

Other than that, the movie was better than I expected, and at the end I felt a little sparkly too. :)
Words never truer to my ears. Whoever says that votes don't count or that people don't care I have to say look at yesterday some states were very close, some elections were just a few thousand people apart.

I wasn't shocked when 1% of the votes were in. I was calm and cool as the normal course too effect. Then battlegrounds became blue states, states that hadn't been blue for decades voted for Obama, states that I though might not be capable of being so forward minded.

When Florida turned blue, that's when it dawned on me that this thing was not only over but would be a landslide.

I am shocked still, I was moved to tears and I have woken up this morning in a whole new world. One where i was proven wrong about who and what we as a people are. I feel proud this morning to be an American, more than anything I feel hopeful.

It's been two months since I've been on LJ

Two months and all I have to say is this....

I HAVE A NEW CRUSH and omg, its an old crush too. He and I have a date on November 21st, and I can't wait.

Yeah Baby...

If you haven't read twilight yet, let me know and I will get you hooked up and fast. I am on book 3 and just can't tear myself away. It may put my degree in danger. I have to curfew my reading so that I can do homework and go to work. I am so glad vampires are hot again. Stephanie Meyer, I think I love you too.

Goodnight George

And yes, I said a little prayer to Joe Pesci this morning on your behalf. He get's shit done.

I took Rick to go see him at the Trenton War Memorial Theater a few months ago. Ironic as it's named for what a football stadium should be but it's like where the ballet is played in Trenton. I could see he was getting older, more worn out, but he was still hilarious and still as sharp as a tack.

He was by far my favorite comedian of all time. I have all three of his books, read by him in audio format, and have seen every HBO special. Thanks George, for making me love football over baseball, and for making me laugh at stupid people.

He was the first snarker. There will never be anyone else like him. It will be really funny when people start eulogizing him since he always said he hated that. LOL

did you hear...?

Say, did anyone read about the crime wave at the Maryland Sheep and Wool show.   "Overnight, hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise had been stolen from several vendor booths in the main building and the nearby barns. Cash registers had been pried open, and all the goat pens and rabbit doors had been opened. Thankfully all the animals were safely found and recaptured" (from Clara's blog) Terrible.

This was a lovely article about Hellen Keller.  However the quote "It's really one of the best images I've seen in a long, long time," said Helen Selsdon, an archivist at the American Federation for the Blind," nearly had me sporfling coffee onto my computer screen this morning.

In other non funny news A BOMB Went off two blocks from me this morning in Times Square.  When I got into the city at 6:20am this morning there were still cops everywhere and the subways were shut down.  I get in at the Port on a bus so I wasn't affected, but they were diverting the busses outside of the port to stop there and then make everyone walk.

They bombed the recruiting center that is under the huge teleprompter screen on 42nd street.  There is a HUGE hole in the middle of the recruiter station.

HAHAH and just got an email from all of the heads of the company asking if business systems were up in light of the explosion.  I seriously felt like writing back,  YEP IM FINE FOLKS!!  LOL.

random for fandom

okay, I don't get it.  officially I am lost.  What is the fun in straight women shipping male characters together in shows and stories and books where the men clearly would never get it on in?  Can someone please explain this to me? Why are all the men in this ship fantasies gay?

and why is this even on the internet?  What ever happened to normal fan fics where new plots happened and the characters who didn't get all sexified just had adventures?  Why are fandom people so horny?!!  LOL Imagehskinn  I am not looking at you, you write fun stuff.
