  My name is Beau Hastings, I am a Linux system administrator and full stack developer. More eloquently put I am a jack of all trades programmer and linux advocate. I started programming in 1995 at 13 years old, by accident. My main interests include programming, linux, and futurism. I’m not religious but secular humanism describes some of my beliefs. • ircN

  I officially parted ways with ircN on Dec 8th of 2017, after 20 years, although I was inactive for many years prior to the announcement. I hadn’t contributed to the source code since beta versions of ircN 8, back when Quietust and Sarek were still around. I was asked to become the lead scripter for ircN 8 but turned it down, as did Sarek. In 1997 I joined #ircN on EFNet and never left.

• Atlantica Online

  Atlantica Online was a new kind of game, a turn-based tactical MMORPG. I started this game in 2008 after it’s release under the character name Xaphyr and Saweet. I had so much fun in this game. But I ended up quitting due to RL problems. Met a lot of great friends which I wish I would have kept in touch with out of the game. • Diablo II

  Everyone has heard of Diablo II at this point, one if not the best ARPG of all time. While there’s not much to say in terms of what everyone already knows, I would like to briefly mentioned how I ended up getting very rich in the game. Duping a worthless item for riches I got rich by tricking players that I could dupe. The trick involved the Soulstones. So I’d create a game and promise to dupe for players.

• Diablo III

  Not really a whole lot to say about this game and its various changes. I still prefer the game when it first came out, pre-nerf, which was extremely difficult especially on inferno. Most people like myself were stuck in Act 2 back then, Belial was so hard. I managed to get level 60 (no paragon levels back then) in hardcore, but still was in Act 2 to put that into perspective.

• MuOnline

  I’ve played this game on and off for years. I started on the official servers back in the day as a Energy Elf and Dark Knight. This was back when you had to spend all day in Devias on Yetis just to get a single level. Very fun pvp game, Castle Siege is always fun for everyone. but this game has always suffered from balance problems. Depending on the version, there are character classes that can’t even be competed with.

• My first PC game

  Since our first computer I’ve been into playing games. I use to buy those PC magazines that came with a software sampler CD. Those were always a lot of fun. I’d look forward to going to the grocery store so I could buy one of these magazines so I could spend several hours trying out all the programs. The Journeyman Project Our first computer came with several CDs, and one of them was The Journeyman Project.

• Perfect World

  I started this game on a private server hosted on GameHaze called PW-Extreme. So what happened was the official server files for Perfect World got leaked before the game was released. The guy who ran GameHaze bought them (allegedly for $10,000). So a little history: I became the first level 99 Elf Priest (Heaven), named Sapphire. I was an original member of Genesis, we became the strongest guild on the server, and later co-founded Cursed and Carebears, which became the strongest guilds on the server.

• Terraria

  One of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time. My friends and I were straight up addicted to this game for awhile. Such a fun team or solo game. According to Steam I’ve spent 220 hours into this game in total. TShock I started contributing to TShock somewhere in August or September of 2015, which is a mod for Terraria's server. Quite a few good guys, I really liked this project but it was only a few months in before I bailed.
