Flying by myself was not too bad. In our last minute of desperation we bought a portable DVD player. What a lifesaver for anyone traveling with a toddler. He fell asleep in the second movie.

I'm leav'n on a jet plane
We made it to Utah. Hurray. It was a night mare getting to the plane. We had to wake the boys up at 5 Am and neither went to sleep on the 3 hour drive to Houston. It was rush hour when we got there, so tons of traffic. Corbin got car sick all over himself and the car seat. It was terrible. We made it to the airport with time to spare but there was NO parking to be found. We had to drive around for almost 45 minutes trying to get a spot along with a dozen or more cars. We were lucky to snag one that was just leaving. Then Carter had a massive blow out. At least we had a change of clothes for both boys.

Carter was really excited and very active. He would not hold still. I lucked out by getting them to leave the seat next to me empty. Carter loved sitting in his own chair. He was so tired but he just has a hard time falling asleep without his bed. I had to buckle him onto my lap with the sling and he finally fell asleep. They were both still asleep when we got to Utah.
All things considered I think traveling alone was a success.

Beautiful Houston Temple
The Houston Temple is only about two and a half hours from our house. It is a whole day event for us though. We have been trying to get a group together to do temple trips with so we can take turns watching the kids. I was surprised there were not more flowers out. I think we are in between seasons here. It is too hot for Spring flowers and the summer blossoms are not out.
Dan and Elise Colton invited us to go to the beach with them. Andrew wasn't able to come but I went with the boys, it was their first time! I was so excited and so was Corbin. He was singing God Bless America on the way there. When we saw the first waves crashing on the sand he was ecstatic. "Look Mom! The ocean white with foam, God Blessed it didn't he ?" Carter loves the sandbox at home. This place was like heaven for him.
Until he discovered that beach sand is just as yucky as sandbox sand
Everyone was covered in sand and loving it.

I think all the kids were exhausted and very sandy. Corbin's face got a little burned. Ava got fried, poor gal. I still had a blast and I hope we can go again with Andrew. Next time I hope Corbin will be more of a sport.

9 Months and Walking
May 7th, 2008
20lbs 2oz 50 %
30 1/2 in 100% +
I took Carter in for his well baby check-up. They said he was off the charts on height. I guess he is pretty tall. At one year Corbin was more than an inch shorter than Carter is now. We will see if Carter stays tall or levels out a bit. At the doctor visit Carter had to get a shot and some blood work. I hate shots for me or my kids. Apparently, Carter does not mind them so much. He did no more than wince when they pricked his finger, filled three circles and a vile of blood. He was laughing and playing peek a boo. I would say that must be a first for the nurse. He didn't like me holding him down for his shot but as soon as I let him sit up he was smiling again.
We managed to capture of movie of him taking some of his first steps. Unfortunately Kaydee walks right in front of the camera but you can get the idea. Hopefully he won't start walking as fast as he started crawling.

Corbin, Corbin, CORBIN!
By Andrew: These next pictures were when Corbin was left with me while Tiffany was out doing something. He wanted to color so I let him while I worked on the computer. Right before Tiff got home I realized that things had gotten a little out of control with the markers. He wasn't supposed to be playing with the markers, only crayons, but the box was down. I asked him why he was coloring on himself, he said, "because I wanted to be a Lamanite." Luckily the marker was washable and right before I got him into the tub Tiffany came home and found the digital camera for me. Ladies take note this is why you shouldn't leave boys home alone. It doesn't matter if one of them is 27 years old. PS. The band aid is from a close encounter with the cement while he was trying to skateboard on his bike. By Tiffany: A few days after this happened, Corbin came to me asking if he could color. I said, last time I let you use the crayons you colored on my floor. He paused and thoughtfully said, "Actually...that was a Marker."
The Many Faces of Corbin

So I went yard sailing this weekend. My Big Find was a Bob the Builder Toddler Sleeping Bag. Perfect Timing because we are going Camping next weekend. Corbin is very excited. This may turn out to be another one of those ideas that just doesn't go as well as we had hoped but at least we are building memories.

It's all about Him
Carter is Nine Months old this week. I can't believe how fast my little baby is growing up. I have been getting complaints that I have not been posting regularly. I realized that my family has never even seen Carter crawling in his true form. I just want to add that the movie I included has not been sped up or manipulated in any way, he is really that fast. His Number One favorite thing to do is go outside and play in the sand box. Every time I open the door to let Kaydee out he tries to get out too. When I shut the door before he gets there he throws himself on the floor and cries. If Corbin is outside without him he stands at the door and bangs on the window.
MY TWO FRONT TEETH
Carter finally got his first tooth!!! and his second, on the same day. I love his toothy little grin!
Meal Times is always fun around here. Carter loves eating everything. He had his first taste of Spaghetti and loved it. I should have made a movie of the way he gobbled it up. This was the first time I have fed Carter food on a plate. I usually just put it on his tray. He was more interested in his plate than his dinnerThe After Dinner Bath. He loves Bath Time!
The Bounce
One of Corbin's friends had a swimming pool Birthday Party with a slip and slide. It was right at nap time. Corbin was glad for an excuse to miss nap. Carter gets really cranky when he doesn't get his nap. I didn't even get a picture of them together in their new matching yellow swimsuits. Corbin loved playing on the slip and slide. Then one of the dads started throwing the kids down the slide. So of course Andrew had to do it with Corbin too. He had a blast. He wanted to do it again, and again and AGAIN!
