I'd been keeping this updated because I could crosspost from dreamwidth, but ever since that feature broke, I don't really find it necessary to update. Most of my DW entries are public anyway — it's been a long time since I've cared who saw what I was sharing — and I doubt any of my friends are active here anymore.

I miss all the memories; I miss GJ most of all but I still spent a chunk of my formative time here. I've had this account since early 2004!!! That's a damn long time. But I know that LJ-style journaling sites have declined in use as the internet has moved to faster, more convenient places with a focus on instant gratification. And like, mood, me too. I get it. It's way more fun to go fast! But...

At the beginning of the year, I decided to make a conscious effort to get back to my roots, bit by bit. I like having an organized, linear record of what I've done. Some of it is so cringe I can barely look at it, but I'm so glad I managed to back up all my entries from GJ before it bit the dust. Do I want to reread every thought I had at age 15? Not necessarily, but I still want it. I still want the option. And that's why I'm trying to spend the bulk of my time online doing things that take longer but have more gratifying payoff in the long run.

It's using my DSLR and editing pictures properly instead of only using my phone. It's sitting down at my laptop to write out what I did in a day or a week and tagging it so I can look at it more later. It's doing hobbies instead of drowning in the randomized scrolling of twitter or instagram or whatever.

So I guess what I'm saying is this: I'm not deleting this or taking anything down and I'll never, ever forget you, LiveJournal. It's been a really great run, from age 14 to 33, and I wish it could keep going.

But I kinda knew it wouldn't last, even as much as I wanted it to, because I don't care that it's been 15+ years, I'll never forget strikethrough. I'll never forget that it was the beginning of the end of safety on LJ for people who don't completely sanitize their online presence- which I guess was a harbinger for times to come on social media in general, huh?

I'll miss the memories and the immeasurably important role the LJ played in the earlier days of the internet. Nothing can take that from me or anyone else who loved the sense of community they found; I just wish it could have lasted a little bit longer ♥

I can update this or write in my diary, and guess which one is more convenient? XD Someday I'll actually upkeep all aspects of my life, but.....not today, lmao.

Last week I got my first vaccine shot!! Pat got his yesterday and Liz gets theirs tomorrow, so we'll all be fully vaccinated around the same time :D I'm looking forward to a better summer than last year, at the very least!!!

Speaking of that- Liz and I went to the mall for the first time in like, a year, and caught up with some of the employees at the Hot Topic, who were super excited to see us :D The store manager is fantastic and I've actually known her since college, she's been there so long. So that was really nice ;w;

We're once again short-staffed at work because a bunch of people called out and some of our newly hired people aren't as reliable as expected >< So that's been fun!!! Probably gonna have to work an extra day again this week, which I'm super not thrilled about. Just....bluh. I dunno, is it so hard to find people who work out????

In better news, I actually wrote and posted a drabble this week!!! I joined chenqing_100 and managed to write something for the first prompt. I'm really hoping I can use drabbles to get back into writing more regularly again, but we'll see. Work burnout has been murderous, and I don't really see it changing any time soon...

In the middle of working on the order, I decided it was time to fix all the images on my LJ account, because....11 am on Sunday is the best time to fix all the fucking photobucket links, sure!!!! Cool!!!!!!!

This involved screaming in frustration because I couldn't find where I had all the customizations for my graphics journal over there. Like. Okay. Cool. I bought a paid account for my main journal, thinking that would let me edit the style layers.

NOPE.

So then I had to also buy a paid account for my graphics journal because....apparently I was just throwing money away when I was 21???? And I thought putting all the images and shit in a custom layer instead of CSS what a good idea????????

Anyway. I'm gonna try to get back to actually working at work, what a concept XD

Can I just say how glad I am that the art of icon making has not been lost and is in fact, still doing pretty well here on DW? It's inspiring me to actually share the icons I make instead of just....using them....and never posting them elsewhere.... I'll probably make a few more before I post them but like!!! It's good to see!!!!

Currently desperately trying to write, so I guess making icons is just procrastinating in a creative way? XD

These days I do most of my fandom-ing on my tumblr but I've recently come back here to make personal posts. I missed the organized journal aspect of LJ & the privacy options. So I've returned~~

I LOVE KEEPING TRACK OF WHAT I DO BUT THEN LIFE GETS BUSY AND I FORGET EVERYTHING OFUHSDIUFH!!!!!!!!

Fuck I haven't updated since before Katsucon, whoops!! I would like to write a proper Katsu recap but I don't have the brains for it right now :T And I'd really just like to say hi to dreamwidth and post a few minor updates.

-work has been insanely busy but we've had record breaking sales so like, yay
-I got a small part time job at the jewelry studio Pat works at, doing photo editing and listing pieces for sale online
-Liz dyed my hair and it's a beautiful bright red/maroon/purple experience now, I love it
-I started working on a bullet journal planner and I'm already way behind on it, but I'm having fun
-Ritalin has been really helpful but I'm still forgetful as fuck, so that's where I still struggle

Basically I need to get my shit organized but getting my shit organized is a continual struggle where I feel like there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done but also have downtime to chill. Ya know, the usual!!

Once I outline it better, I'll return with a katsu update/recap/whatever. It was an amazingly fun time though, so it is good news. I just did a lot at it so there's a lot to write!!!

........good to know that kingdom100 never deletes claims!! I claimed zemyx back in 2006, wrote two things, and then fucked off, because I'm terrible at completing things. But now with the release of kh3, I'm like, super jazzed to write a bunch of kh fic again!!!! So I was gonna just use the prompt table again and complete it as a personal project, but I figured I should see what happened to my claim. And it's technically still active XD

So. Hm. Guess I'll really be back on my bullshit, then XD I found my original post of the prompt table, but I think I'm gonna repost it once I actually start writing. I don't want to go digging back that far every time I need it.

Seriously though. Hoping these adhd meds keep working so that I can actually complete tasks, plz.

I finally did some writing yesterday!! I've been struggling with it - which happens every winter, but that doesn't mean I have to like it - and failing to even write basic outlines. But yesterday was the breaking point, I guess!! I wrote some juhaku at work and then came home and wrote weird vanven cannibalism, because I like to stay on brand.

Today's my day off so I'm making an effort to type up the vanven at least, because the rough draft is done. The juhaku is....barely started, but I've got a lot of ideas for it now :D

Other than that, I wanna do some more housework. Today I get to up the dose of my ADHD meds and that's prooooobably gonna help. Or at least I hope it will XD Fingers crossed!!
