Great Fabric Giveaway!!
I am a sucker for great fabrics. I love to sew and with that comes a love for fabric. If you sew you know what I mean. I have lots of fabric in my sewing "stash," just waiting to be transformed into something wonderful!
If you are like me and are pinching your pennies, especially in the crafting arena, then you too should head over to Warehouse Fabrics Inc.'s blog and enter to win a $50 gift certificate.
Hugh just couldn't let his sister keep the upper-hand in scripture memorization. He's got his down too. (At the end he adds "I wanna see!" as he always does when I take any video of him).
So, here's a quick recap on the, uh...last YEAR. Obviously with 3 little ones I've been busy! I wanted to post some "catch up" pictures from the last year...for those that are curious.
Two weeks before Gillian was born a dear friend did a photo shoot for me. It was her shower gift to me and I was overjoyed! I didn't think I'd get any "belly shots" with this baby (other than the ones I'd been taking with my iSight camera on the iMac). I'm so happy we got them done. I still, ahem, need to put them in frames and then on the wall (but we're hoping to move...and THAT is another post for another day).
So without further adieu...
And then 2 weeks later...
I woke up at 4am with a few mild to moderate contractions. And after 3 kids you'd think I KNEW, but I wasn't quite sure. I waited a while then texted my mom (who had been at my house about 12 hours ago, but had returned to Sacramento to wait another week to come on my due date!). We tried to rest and "see what happened" but rest was eluding me. Laying down only brought the contractions on stronger. Around 7 am we started making calls and getting the birth tub set up. Surprisingly I never once thought of getting in the car and driving to the hospital. I had full faith in my Heavenly Father and by His grace trusted in Him to care for me. I also had full faith in my Midwife, her assistant and my ever faithful, loving husband. AND I had great friends come and pick up the other two kiddos(not a moment too soon!) so I was free to be me and get down to business. By this time is was a little after 8am. I sat on the birth ball with Nate pushing into my lower back, while the tub filled up. The midwife came just before 9am and estimated I was about 7cm dilated. I was so glad to hear that I practically dove into the birth tub. I spent the rest of the time in the tub. I started feeling the urge to push around 10am, and a few minutes after that my water finally broke! The next few pushes really seemed to do something and her head descended quickly. I couldn't WAIT to get her out! A few more pushes and she slid into my waiting hands. I pulled her up to my chest laughing and crying. I just held her close until Nate said, "What did we have?" Then I finally looked to see that it was a baby girl!!

I've always wanted to teach my children to memorize scripture from an early age. I thought we'd start with something modified/simplified like, "Bear ye one another's burdens." Something simple like I learned when I was young and first starting to memorize God's word. Adelaide is usually surprising us in one sense or another so I don't know why I thought it would be different with her ability to memorize scripture. We're going to nail this one down for a few more days and start on another one! (By the way it's taken her less than a week to memorize this!) This scripture was part of our evening reading last week and it stood out to me as a good lesson from scripture, so I started working with her saying it over about twice every evening and once or twice throughout the day-really that's all! She has made me one proud Mama!
It is 6:30am and I am awake. For the past few mornings I've been waking up around 5:30am- intensely hungry. I'm really very tired of this. I'm really very tired. But this baby will not give up and I can do nothing but give in. Hunger has always been an enemy I can't defeat, I don't think I want to. So I'm eating eggs (protein) and dry biscuits. To counteract the dry biscuits I'm drinking milk. It does a body good. And its helping me not choke. The biscuits really should be duck food, but I'm too hungry to care.
Recently a friend, who shall remain nameless, mentioned that I've been neglecting to post pictures of my children that are already on the other side of my skin. I mean to rectify that very situation this morning.
For the annual community Easter Egg Hunt (each town has their own) we decided to break tradition and NOT go to the Rio Dell Egg Hunt. Last year was quite the circus. They only let the kids find 6 eggs each before booting them off the field to stand in line for 30 minutes to claim a prize that may or may not be indicated inside the eggs they found but were NOT allowed to open. So this year we poached the Fortuna Hunt. The verdict? Worse. My kids amassed a total of 0 eggs. ZERO. A still talks about this. She keeps asking why all the other kids were rude and took lots of eggs(we saw kids with 8 or more eggs in their baskets!) Punks! She has decided that its because the kids must not love Jesus that they were so greedy. Thankfully my kids have great friends who shared their eggs.
And they're off!
I love this one.
Here they are sharing eggs.
Eating the fruits of their labor.
Bubba can't figure out why we got him up so early to carry around an empty bucket.
After such a profitable hunt we decided to head downtown for the carnival.
We hope this is the only picture of them in a cop car. The officer was impressed by A's safety concerns.
Easter Hams.
Moments later they deflated the bunny. Such well behaved children...
20 weeks (I think I look bigger in the last picture, weird.)

A few questions I've been getting lately...
1. When are you going to find out if its a boy or a girl? We're not going to find out! Its going to be a total surprise. And to make it even more fun I have absolutely NO "feeling" as to what this one is going to be. I've had a boy and a girl and this one is totally different!! (We're actually planning on foregoing any sonograms, we're doing old-school style).
2. Is it twins? This is only because at the beginning I was "measuring" waaaaayy ahead of my dates and we thought maybe, but probably not.
3. Which hospital are you using? St. Downey's. That is to say we're having the baby at home. Yes, call me old fashioned. No, really I LIKE being old fashioned!!
4. Are you scared/nervous to have a homebirth? No. I totally trust in God to take care of us. I'm actually more afraid to have the baby in the car which is what almost happened with Bubba. I'd, also, rather not experience transition en route to the hospital again. That was the ride of my life, and I never want to go through that again. (I think Nate would agree he'd rather avoid that situation again as well).
Any more questions? Feel free to ask! (Maybe that will give me something more interesting to write about than the size of my belly).
