Our Story
Shadow Global was founded in response to South Africa’s staggering youth unemployment rate. We exist to create sustainable pathways to employment and meaningful permanent work for excluded youth across the country, advancing both social impact and economic inclusion. By merging training, mentorship and secure job placements, we are rewriting the story of work for young people and opening doors where none existed.
Our Values
Our approach is grounded in five core values that guide how we engage with every student, partner and colleague:
Human
We bring heart to every connection and make people feel cared for.
Empathy
Awareness
Radiance
Trust
We keep our word, stay honest and follow through on promises.
Industry
Our model is recognised by the South African Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Global Business Services (GBS) industry as trusted and outcomes led. We don’t just create jobs; we build careers, grow confidence, and transform futures.
These accolades affirm the strength of our model and, more importantly, the collective power of an enabling, like-hearted ecosystem of employment partners and funders who share our vision for inclusive growth and lasting transformation.

Founder
Franco Cotumaccio is an accomplished entrepreneur and visionary leader, celebrated for his pioneering contributions to South Africa’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Global Business Services (GBS) sectors. Over three decades, he has helped shape the country’s customer experience landscape, creating sustainable jobs and driving inclusive growth.
Franco holds a BA and LLB and began his career in management at Auto & General before moving to the UK in 1992 as Group Director at Budget Insurance, helping launch the South African business in the UK—an early sign of his ability to bridge global opportunity with local talent.
In 2003, he established one of the first UK contact centres in South Africa, and in 2007 founded Full Circle Contact Centre Services, supporting brands such as Amazon, Carphone Warehouse and Capita PLC. After Capita acquired Full Circle in 2012, Franco became Managing Director of Capita South Africa, attracting clients including O2, Marks & Spencer and British Airways, and contributing to the creation of over 30 000 jobs.
Recognised by the Mayor of Cape Town (2015) and Premier of the Western Cape (2019) for his contribution to job creation, Franco also guided teams to multiple BPESA and Global Sourcing awards. He has served as an Industry Board Director for BPESA Western Cape and represented the sector at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Inaugural National Investment Conference.
In 2020, Franco founded Shadow Global (formerly Shadow Careers) and co-founded Human Xperience. Through Human Xperience, he helps international brands offshore to South Africa sustainably, while Shadow Global empowers unemployed youth through purpose-driven employment. By mid-2025, Shadow Global had created over 2 100 permanent careers with a 90% success rate, partnering with 19 like-minded delivery centres nationwide.
