This year for Halloween Brooklyn was a dalmatian. She looked adorable. We had our annual Barton Halloween party at Katie's house this year. We ate yummy hot dogs then played bingo, some fun minute to win it games, darts and we decorated sugar cookies. We all had a great time. Then we went up to Gardner Village and walked around and looked at all the witches. It was really cute! Then we went to our ward Trunk or Treat. Stacy and Ty came up and went with us and it was fun to have them there. Then on Halloween we headed up to my dads worked and trick or treated around there then we went down to my parents trunk or treat. Brooklyn loved it all and got tons of candy!!

First Broken Bone
About a week after Brooklyn's first birthday she broke her leg. It was so sad. Mike's aunt Mindy was in town because she was bringing her oldest daughter out to BYUI. They wanted to come and see our new house and see Brooklyn and go to church with us. So Mindy, her two girls and Polly all came up to our house on Sunday to have lunch and then go to church with us. I was taking them on a tour of our house and Polly had Brooklyn. Mindy and I were upstairs and we hear Polly fall down the stairs. It was the most horrible sound. Brooklyn immediately started screaming. I ran down and picked her up and she was crying so hard. I could not calm her down. I tried everything. I tried feeding her I tried rocking her and cuddling her, Mike tried and nothing was working. We finally got her calmed down a little bit so and Mindy took Polly home because she was pretty sore as well. We went to church and Brooklyn was miserable. So when we got home I called her pediatrician and they told us to take her down to the ER so they could do x-rays. So we headed down to Timpanogos hospital. When we got there I told then that I thought it might be her rib because she would cry extra hard when you picked her up. So the doctor examined her and decided to do a cat scan to make sure that there wasn't anything broken or ruptured internally. The only problem was that he wanted to put dye in her so that meant she had to have an IV. It was so horrible. She screamed the entire time. We finally got her calmed down and they came and got her to do the cat scan. Well she was so scared that she wouldn't hold still for the cat scan so it didn't work. They ended up having to give her a little sedative to help her hold still enough. That worked and they were able to get a good picture. Luckily everything came back good and they just said she had a bruised rib so to keep her on Tylenol and Motrin and follow up with her pediatrician if things didn't get better.
Well the next day I noticed that she wouldn't put any weight on her left leg. Up to this point she was getting really good at walking along things and crawling everywhere, but she wouldn't. She wouldn't walk along anything. She would just drag her leg and when she would pull her self up she wouldn't stand on her left leg. So I gave it a couple days and she still wasn't putting weight on it so I called her pediatrician again and he wanted to see her. So we took her down and he ordered x-rays. We then went back over to Timpanogos and they did the x-rays. While we were waiting the x-ray tech came out and she had Dr. Clayton on the phone. He told us that she had a fracture on her femur. He suggested we take her up to Primary Children's to get the cast on. I immediately called up there to schedule a time to get her cast on and they couldn't get her in for a week. I was so bummed. Finally the day came and we headed up to the Orthopedic section of Primary Children's. They did more x-rays and then the doctor came in and told us that we had three options. We could either put a splint on it, cast it or do nothing. We decided that we felt best with putting in in a cast. Luckily since it had already healed quite a bit and so well she only had to have her cast on for a week. She screamed getting the cast on and wouldn't hold still so they had to do it twice. I felt so bad for her. She did really well with the cast though. She didn't let it slow her down. Finally after a week we went back up and they did more x-rays and said that it had completely healed so they were able to take her cast off! I was so glad that it healed well and quickly. She still won't put tons of weight on her leg so it must be sore still but she is doing much better. It was quite the ordeal but I am so glad she was ok and they were able to get her leg fixed and she is feeling much better!!

Brooklyn First Birthday!!
How can it be that one year ago Brooklyn joined our family. The past year has gone by so fast. It has been the best year! She is the biggest blessing in our lives and I am so glad she is mine! We had a fun little birthday party for her at Firmont park here in Daybreak. She loved opening all her presents and she especially loved her cake! She was so cute digging into it. She was in heaven. I would not trade this past year for anything. Brooklyn brings so much joy and happiness into our lives. She is the happiest girl in the world with the most contagious smile and personality. She makes all those around her smile! I love my little princess more than words can say. Happy birthday Brooklyn we love you!!!

10 Year High School Reunion!
I can not believe that I graduated from High School 10 years ago. That is crazy! Our 10 year reunion was down at the Manor at Riverwoods. Suzy and I went back and forth on whether or not we should go but we are both glad that we did. It was so fun to see people that we haven't seen since we graduated and catch up on what is going on in everyone's lives. So much can change in 10 years. It was fun to introduce Mike and Brooklyn to everyone!

4th of July!
I think I say this every year but I love the 4th of July. It is my favorite! I love everything about it. This year we did all of the same things that we do every year and it is the best. The day before we headed down to the parade route to save our seats. My dad got there really early to stake out our spot and then we took turns sitting down there since it was so hot. Brooklyn did great and she loved being down there and watching all the people. Then on the 4th we headed down and watched the parade and then went to Janean and Pauls to go swimming. Mike, Lorna and Madison came swimming with us and it was fun to have them there. Brooklyn loved the water and looked so cute in her lady bug swim suit! Then it was time for Stadium of Fire. I was nervous on how Brooklyn would do but she did great for the most part. Toward the end of the fire works she got really tired and grumpy so Mike took her underneath the stadium and she fell asleep. Carrie Underwood was awesome. I love seeing her in concert. It was the perfect way to end my favorite holiday!

Riley Family Reunion!
Toward the middle of June we headed out to Colorado for the Riley family reunion. The first night everyone came over to Mike and Lorna's and we had dinner and then played games. The next day everyone did some service and Pat and Barbs house then did their own thing for awhile before all meeting back and Mike and Lorna's for dinner again. Matt and Brynn also were able to come in for it and it was fun to see them and Mason again and for them to meet Brooklyn. The next day we went down to the Strawberry Days parade and watched Madison in the parade and then she demonstrated some of her karate at the little fair. Everyone gathered around for another big dinner that night and then they had a testimony meeting. The next day everyone headed to church and then it was time to come home. Brooklyn slept horrible. She hates the pack and play so we need to figure something else out but other than that it was great to spend time with Mike's family!

New House!
May was a huge month for us. We bought our first house. After looking since November and making our real estate agent go all up and down the state (not really but that is what it felt like) we decided to buy a home in South Jordan in Daybreak. We originally were planning on moving up to Davis County because Mike was working in Ogden but none of the houses we looked at felt right. Neither of us loved it up there and it just seemed so far away. When we walked through our house we both loved it and it felt right so we put in an offer and they accepted it! We were so sad to leave our little apartment in Highland and our friends and the ward that we loved but it was time to move. We had out grown our little apartment and wanted some space on our own. Our ward came and helped us load up all our stuff and then Cameron and Mike unloaded everything at our new house. So far we are loving it and are looking forward to getting to know people in our new neighborhood!! It is so nice to have space and carpet for Brooklyn to crawl around on!

Spring Break
Jana and the kids came up for Spring Break and we took advantage of spending as much time with them as we could and doing lots of fun things. First we went up to This is the Place. They have a ton of activities to do and also had a petting farm which the kids loved. It was a bit cold for April but that didn't stop us from having a great time. Then we went swimming down at the Provo Rec Center. They have an awesome indoor pool with tons to do and a little kids splash pool which was perfect for Brooklyn. It was her first time swimming and she loved it. She could have stayed down there all day. I can't wait to take her swimming again!!

Easter
Brooklyn's first Easter was a lot of fun. We had our annual Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ at my parents. She just stared at the eggs and would sometimes pick them up but she didn't really know what to do with them. We also went to an Easter Egg Hunt that our real estate agent put on. It was at the American Fork Amphitheater and they had a ton of eggs! Stacy, Cameron and Ty went as well since they are using the same real estate agent. I love Easter! She also looked adorable in her new Easter dress!!
