We offer basic training for using CNC technology at our Durham, North Carolina headquarters. Classes are scheduled regularly and are limited in size to maximize participants hands-on time. This small group training guides students through ShopBot machine usage, basic digital design file creation, and toolpath preparation. Every month we teach small business owners, industry professionals, educators, artists, and beyond, how to meet their goals with CNC.
Our hands-on CNC workshops are open to educators, makers, and industry professionals alike. Sessions are designed to build confidence with CNC and digital fabrication tools, and many are CEU-eligible—making them a great fit for teachers seeking continuing education credits as well as professionals looking to expand their skills.
Classes begin each day at 9:00AM and end at 5:00PM.
Prior to coming to your training, we ask that you please download the demo version of VCarve Pro, which can be found on Vectric’s website, and familiarize yourself with the software to get the most out of the class.
Cost: $600
The price (per person) includes cost of materials used during creation of take-home sample projects, breakfast, lunch, snacks and refreshments both days.
Difficulty
No CNC experience necessary. The focus of this training is on beginner to intermediate users. Experienced users often find basic training to be useful as a refresher for best practices, machine maintenance, and updates to design and/or control software.
Additional Basic Training Opportunities
For additional live training sessions, visit the website of our training partner, the North Carolina Furniture School to view their current schedule.
Also, many makerspaces throughout the US advertise “check-out” sessions that will provide basics of operating their ShopBot CNC machines in less than a day. Additional training is highly recommended, however, if you can’t travel to North Carolina for training, ask us to provide makerspace locations near you that have ShopBot CNC machines.
