Dear Author,
First off, thank you so much for offering to write a story for a complete stranger! I truly appreciate it and want you to be able to write what inspires you, but here are some things about me.

Dear Yuletide Author,
Thank you for signing up and being willing to write a stranger on the internet a story!
I honestly have no firm likes or dislikes when it comes to this. Just know that I will enjoy anything you do, so please have fun.
Don't feel obliged to write anything along what I might say; these are just thoughts I've had. Go with whatever inspires you.
( rambly thoughts about Deerskin, Tamora Pierce's Provost's Dog, and Hanna under the cutCollapse )
♥

I actually have a half-written post that I've been meaning to finish since before Halloween, but just had to post this drive-by style...
I was updating my bookmarks since I've moved to Pinboard and accidentally googled a summary I was copy-pasting and this made me laugh:

No, Google, I did not spell Brendon's name incorrectly. I love that's what it takes issue with. And now, nose back to the grindstone.

- Current Music:the furious typing of many people in this lab
So I have been pretty dead fandomwise for the last two months. Mostly because I was accepted into a grad program at the very last minute (yay!) and have been since running around like a crazy person, trying to squeeze in time to read (for fun!) and sleep.
Which makes me really sad with the changes on delicious that I woke up to this morning.
Service has already been spotty for a few weeks, but while the new design may be "prettier," it has lost a lot of the functionality that I depended on.
It boils down to:
1. All tags with /, !, * or other special characters are now broken.
Since one of the first things I do every morning is check brendon/spencer, harvey/mike etc., you can imagine my sad, bleary-eyed face when the 404 page popped up.
2. Only 10 links per page.
They have got to be kidding me. If someone has 3872 bookmarks saved, that just isn't feasible.
I have no idea what they were thinking when they make 10 the default, but couldn't they have left the option to change it.
3. Loss of streamlined view.
I miss the options where you could choose the level of detail available on the list.
sigh. I really hope AVOS gets it together and stops trying to reinvent the wheel. I saw on their blog they were worried no-one would like them. Well, it helps when your product actually works...
Happier posts to follow now that I have a better grip on my schedule. Lots of bigbang stories to catch up on...

Summary: It's the fall of 2003 and Ryan is already having a rough senior year. College applications are right around the corner, Homecoming is in a few days, and Pet Salamander just isn't as satisfying as it used to be. Worse, Ryan has developed a raging crush on his best friend and feels powerless to do anything about it. When Ryan accidentally wishes Spencer away to the goblins, he finds himself on a fantastical quest to stop Brendon, Prince of the Goblins, from keeping Spencer forever. All he has to do is solve an enormous maze, storm a castle, and find the right words to say --all under 13 hours!
A story about tight pants, falling down, dancing, and getting lost. A Labyrinth AU. (1986 film)
Author's Note: This story wouldn't have happened without late-night musings with C., who linked me to photographs just like these and suggested that Brendon was forever practicing for prom. And then she told me to write a story about it and staged a last-minute beta, so I am really grateful for all the encouragement and flailing! ♥
A special shoutout to my amazing mixer and artist,
Title from "Go Places" by the New Pornographers.

Since I should be rehauling my bandombigbang fic, naturally I am giving this a whirl instead.
If you've come from the meme, hello! I'm also available as thesilentcs on gchat or aim, so you can talk to me wherever you like.
I promise I am not as standoffish as Spencer looks in this picture. hee
