    One of the biggest risks inside advisory firms isn’t market or compliance-related.  It’s operational. Unclear processes, missing ownership, and steps that rely on memory create quiet exposure. A simple operational checklist can quickly surface where things slow down, break, or slip through the cracks.  Where work depends on one person.  Where rework shows up.  Where follow-up is required just to ensure completion. You don’t need to fix everything at once.  You just need visibility. When you can see where the risk lives, you can design systems that reduce it.   • How workflows reduce risk Risk doesn’t usually come from one big mistake.  It comes from small things being missed. A step skipped.  A follow-up forgotten.  A form submitted incomplete.  A handoff that wasn’t clear. Workflows reduce risk by removing guesswork. They define what needs to happen, in what order, and who owns each step. They create consistency, even when the team is busy. And they surface issues early, before they become client-facing problems. Strong workflows don’t rely on memory or heroics.  They include triggers, ownership, and built-in checks that make the right action the easy action.
