Welcome to my statistics blog! My name is Niamh, and I’m passionate about data, analysis, and the stories numbers can tell. With a background in modelling animal populations, machine learning, and statistical methods, I’ve spent years working with complex datasets in agriculture and epidemiology, exploring ways to make predictions and improve decision-making.
I started this blog as a way to share insights from my work, engage with a wider community of learners, and hopefully make statistics more approachable. Over the years, I’ve encountered many who find statistics intimidating, but I believe that with the right guidance, anyone can gain confidence in their ability to understand data.
My aim is to create a space where beginners and more advanced learners could explore statistical methods at their own pace. Whether you’re diving into logistic regression for the first time, exploring machine learning models, or just looking for practical tips on data analysis, I hope this blog will be a valuable resource for you.
As far as I am concerned, the most effective way of teaching statistics is to demystify it. Many concepts in statistics can feel abstract, or overly technical. I aim to break them down into relatable, real-world examples. I believe in encouraging students not just to blindly follow formulae, but to really understand why certain techniques are used, and how they apply to problems, both in a classroom and in life.
At its core, statistics is about making informed decisions, and interpreting the world more clearly. I believe that anyone can learn it, given the right context and motivation. Through this blog, I’ll share tutorials, case studies, and personal insights that highlight the beauty of data and the power of statistical thinking.
