The Latest

Image
Well, I have been asked to update so here goes. Morgan went through the Temple last week. It was a great experience for her and us as well. She was very quick in obtaining her passport and applying for her Visa. Nice job Mo! I guess the Visas to Spain are sometimes delayed for missionaries and she doesn't want to be a "Visa Waiter" if she can help it. She will only be in the Provo Missionary Training Center for 3 weeks. She will then fly to Madrid, Spain to study in the Missionary Training Center there for 6 additional weeks.

Morgan received a letter from the mission office in Spain. We had been waiting for that letter and were excited to get it. It explains in more detail what she'll need specifically for her mission in Malaga. "The dress standard in Europe is a little more formal." (She was pretty psyched to read that one being the casual dresser that she is.) We also learned she will be walking a lot so she'll be getting some very comfortable shoes.

We have all really enjoyed learning more about serving in Spain from Morgan's friends who have served missions there. Thanks to you who have sent her emails and given her information we can't get enough of it. Feel free to send as much information as you want! Now she just needs to go shopping to get shoes, skirts, suits, blouses, luggage and some other things before she goes. Time is going by really fast. We are going to savor the holidays and these next couple of months more than ever!

THE WAIT IS ON!!

Image
Morgan's papers will be sent in tomorrow by the Stake President. Now we just wait to hear where she will spend a year and a half of her life serving the Lord and sharing the gospel. We will know Friday (October 5th) whether her call has been issued or not. If it has been issued we should get a letter in the mail the following Wednesday (October 10th) telling where she will be sent. General Conference will take place this weekend & we don't know whether or not that will slow down the process. If so, we will know the following Wednesday. (October 17th) Check back this weekend.

Quote from Elder Ballard

Image

"Remember, brothers and sisters, we're not marketing a product. We're not selling anything. We're not trying to impress anyone with our numbers or our growth. We are members of the restored Church of Jesus Christ, empowered and sent forth by the Lord Himself to find, nourish, and bring safely into His Church those who are seeking to know the truth....He is the Good Shepherd. He knows his sheep, and they will know His voice, spoken through you, and they will follow Him."

--Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

Poem Written By Morgan

Men of Honor

What say ye my sons?
Will ye stand? Will ye fight?
These were young men
Of virtue and light.

They stood and they fought
Though so young and so few.
For they did not doubt
What their mothers knew.

Though this war has long past
Our young men are the same.
They have left in great numbers
To proclaim his name.

With faith and humility
They leave home to serve.
With boldness and strength
They march into the world.

This is God’s Army
They’re spreading the news
That they do not doubt
What their mothers knew.

Mo Decides To Go

On Thursday August 17Th 2007 Morgan decided to accept a call to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. By Saturday she was wondering if she had made the right decision. Serving a mission involves a lot of sacrifice and she wanted to be sure it was the right decision. After much pondering, prayer and a talk with her cousin's wife Michelle who served a mission in Brazil, she concluded that she was indeed making the right decision and decided she was definitely going. Now she needs to do her paperwork and prepare. Her availability date is January 2nd, 2008 which means she can turn in her papers October 2nd, 2007.

Sister missionaries serve wherever the Lord chooses to send them for 18 months. After she turns in her papers we will be anxiously waiting to find out where she will be sent. We are really proud of Morgan. She will be a great messenger of the gospel!!! It will be hard to have her away from home, but we know the Lord will bless her and our family also.
