Out with the old in with the new

So most of you know how much I love riding my motorcycles. In June I traded my cafe racer that I built for a 1996 CBR 600. That bike was a lot of fun to ride but had a lot of small problems that kept popping up. In stead of fixing them all I just moved on. I thought I would have a hard time but I picked up a fantastic 2004 FZ6, I think so far I like this even better than the CBR. Funny thing is that I was only out of a bike for 26 hours. It helps that I have been looking for a replacement for the last three months.

This is my sweet rattle can paint job. It was all black when I bought it. I also did the seat cover.

Here is the new bike. FZ6, 600cc.

So far this bike seems really nice to ride, it is amazing what a few inches here and there in the rider compartment will change. It also needs a few small things but mostly routine maintenance that was over looked by the previous owner.

PS - I also sold my WR450, I am looking to replace it with a CR125, a PW50 for the kids, and TT125 for Kari. Just some play bike for now.

New visitor

For anyone that does not know, we have a little baby girl that we are fostering since August. Most of you already know I just thought that since I was already here blogging I would just say how much we love having her in our home. It is so crazzzzy with 4 little kids in the house. We are so happy that we moved into a larger place with lots of room inside to play. I only wish we could post pics of her, but foster rules say no no!

Names and Blessings

So just think about the first time you gave your child a name and blessing, then multiply that times three. I was really nervous about doing all three at one time. Some one asked me how I felt, I told them nervous, but once I start to give blessings, after the first syllable I stop talking and the lord takes over. My biggest problem was keeping three little children all dressed in white clean for two hours. Thank you to all of the family that was able to make it for the name and blessings. I will find the picture from the Sealing and in July and Blog those as well.

By the way for anyone that has not seen the dress that Christina is wearing, Kari made it, about 70 or so hours. There is hand piecing lace, beads, puffy shoulders, and all sorts of stuff going on. To put it bluntly it is just like a wedding dress but made for a girl 3 feet tall.

Pepsi Machine

So I had a problem, my current gun locker is full and I wanted to add several more guns to my collection. Since we are a foster family I can not just leave them lying around. After looking at some prices for larger gun safes I decided $1000 plus was out of my price range. I remember seeing a gun safe / soda machine online somewhere. After searching on craigslist for about 4 months I finally found a soda machine for the price I wanted to pay, $150. After stripping the inside, removing the compressor, recycling the metal, and what change was left in the coin mech I was only into it for $90. By the way soda machines weigh about 800 lbs empty. I bought some wood, carpeting, and really good spray adhesive - $200. So for right around $300 bucks this is what I built.

Since this was refrigerated at one time there is insulation in the walls to help with temperature and moisture control.

It has two lower shelves for ammo or other stuff. I need to make the ammo portion a locking door.

There is room for 22 standing rifles and I plan to make hangars on the door for pistols. The corners and middle rifle stands have room for scoped rifles.

In all I am very pleased with the gun safe. The carpet came out very nice and my guns should be very happy in there. As you can see from the first picture, from the outside it just looks like a plain old soda machine.

Mazda

Most of you know that I skipped my car off of a guard rail a while ago, while Kari and the kids were in Texas I did some repairs.
