SkillPlan is working behind the scenes, with industry, to help tackle the labour shortage and build a skilled, robust and resilient workforce in the skilled construction trades — helping workers fast-track into and through apprenticeships, complete technical training, achieve their Red Seal/trade certification and succeed on the job.

Training & Supports for Everyone
The Build Your Skills Learning Hub is an integrated online learning platform that gives users access to trade-specific tools and resources to assess and address skill gaps, access supports to enter and complete apprenticeship, and prepare for Red Seal certification and a successful career in the construction trades.
Our training and tools help boost productivity, safety, employee retention and quality of work, ensuring stronger teams and more successful projects, while supporting apprentices in entering, progressing through and succeeding in their apprenticeship programming and building rewarding careers in construction.

What Happens When Learning Is Supported?
Kai, an Indigenous apprentice, struggled with entrance assessments. He used the Build Your Skills Learning Hub to build his skills and his confidence in math, science and document use. Now he’s in his final year as an electrical apprentice.
Brianna failed her Red Seal exam multiple times. After discovering SkillPlan on Instagram, she signed up for the Build Your Skills Learning Hub and requested a tutor. With one-on-one support and targeted resources, she passed her Red Seal exam — and is now a certified Millwright.

Building a Workforce for a Net-Zero Canada
Tradespeople will play a critical role in reaching Canada’s climate goals. The Building it Green initiative, created in partnership with CBTU, aims to help shape a climate-literate construction workforce that will help Canada reduce its carbon footprint.
