South Jersey folk. Currently residing in the snowy mountains of Western Maryland - the area below Washington DC referred to as "NoVA" - SJ, with the majority of my time being spent in Philly (and missing DC terribly). Don't judge me!!!
Love/Obsessions - A Semi-Ordered Timeline: (Most certainly not complete, but this should give you an idea as the inner workings of my brain. You know, in case you wanted that sort of thing.) RIP 2004: Disturbing me at 9pm on Wednesday's used to result in the loss of a limb or other important body part, but they canceled Angel, and now I must move on...
RIP 2007Veronica Mars. Which has moved to Tuesdays at 9pm. And to a new network. (You aren't making this easy!!) been canceled. *sigh* Disturb me, and I'll cut you. :-DFeel free to disturb away, apparently I won't be busy ;-P
About to go out in a blaze of Holy Glory in 2012(?): Okay, NOW I've moved on to Supernatural, Thursdays Fridays at 9pm. Disturb-blab-di-blah-cut-you-blah.
Slow and steady since 2006: I've befriended Dexter as well, and we are NOT on a timetable, so I'll have him come after you if you do! Disturb OR cancel. Either or. I'm not picky ;-P
Sometimes, they jump in and out of nowhere: Labyrinth, ESOTSM, POTC, X-Men, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and verypossiblyHarryPotter
Regeneration Activity Occurred in 2005: I've also recently discovered Doctor Who *happy sigh* it is bliss ;-P (When I say "discovered" what I mean is "became obsessed with" *twitches*). Please see above for still very much valid threat of bodily harm if this show goes away. Although, it's been on since the 60's, so that must count for something.
On a morphine drip and begging for an end as of 2008: There might also be some not-so-subtle flirting going on on my part with House M.D. (Currently pretending that there are only 3 seasons of this show...)
RIP 2009:Battlestar Galactica. Hands down the most brilliantly written sci-fi show the last decade.
Rematerilized in 2009: Star Trek Reboot!! You have time-travel, and alternative-universes, and bar fights, and ridiculous cliff-hanging sequences, and Kirk and Spock! And how is it possible that you can be so many awesome things at once without imploding the known universe!?!? Oh...wait. Hmmm.
December 2009 Obsession update: DRAGON AGE!!! MASS EFFECT!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?! *squees* *hands over a small portion of her soul to BioWare* Not-quite-so-recent grad school survivor graduate - although I enjoy pain, so I will probably go back some time in the not-so-distant-future. I'm back! One class at the mo', but still! I'm hoping to enroll in a PA (Physician's Assistant) program in the Fall of 2010 (delayed for now, silly finances). I'm gonna be a half-Doctor! Or a Doctor!Lite, whichever you prefer :-D Currently on hold while Magus gets himself a Law Degree :-D
Spending my time in between working for Environmental Consulting firms and doing that whole "saving the planet" jazz.
Not an artist, but I play one on tv lj...
Friending policy: I'm for it. De-friending policy: Free will, all.
A fore-warning, a vast majority of my posts anymore are f-locked. These include both real life posts and almost all of my fandom posts (including a large chunk of my fanfiction). This is a just a preference of mine. I'm pretty easy going though, so if you friend me, I am likely to friend you back (assuming you aren't a spam-bot). Just drop me a line to let me know you are here :-)
Things I waste time on: Poetry, short stories, fanfiction, icons, wallpapers, headers/banners (and the occasional layout), photo manipulations, short films, and music videos.
On the fitness front: I do triathlons (swim-bike-run), the occasional road race, and yoga on a semi-regular basis. Please note: I AM SLOW. And that's...okay :-) (I'm also bendy, but we won't talk about that anymore here ;-P)
Oh yeah, and somewhere in between all of that I manage to get some work done. The paying kind, the not so paying kind, and the kind I actually pay for ;-P Life. Is. Busy.
Sometimes, I fill in those spare hours in the day (what, you use those for sleep? *Pfft* silly mortals *shakes head*) by participating in NaNoWriMO.
Some things you should know: I hug trees. No, seriously. I spent my study abroad time during undergrad replanting a deforested rain-forest area in Australia. I helped organize an on-campus recycling program at my grad school. I don't eat beef or pork for environmental reasons (the health benefits and animal cruelty issues aside). I spent five years working in veterinary medicine (mostly as a surgical/anesthesia technician) while earning my biology degree; prior to getting my Masters in Biology and Geography. And now I work for an environmental consulting company whose primary purpose is to help clean up polluted sites for reuse.
Layout Information: Current layout coding and artwork was done by me, using the resources listed below.
2008-2010 layout coding and artwork was done by me. The castle stock image was snagged from National Geographic, and all other resources used are listed below.
2007 layout coding and artwork was also done by me, using the resources listed below.
2006 layouts ago, the artwork was my own (well actually, the photo belonged to my Mother, as I was too small to hold a camera at the time!) As this is a personal photo, please do not save for your own use! Layout coded by moi, with help from the fantastic tutorials over at component_help.
2005 layout inspired by the artwork from Fallen Angel. Written by Peter David, with artwork by J.K. Woodward, David Lopez, and Fernando Blanco.
All other former layouts were coded by me, mostly using the component style, and used a combination of free images and artwork from JML.
And, yes. All of my journal component header titles come from Pink Floyd songs. So does my journal name. And my handle is related. No, I'm not obsessed. *twitches*
