An enthusiastic lover of the supernatural, conspiracies, puzzles, and mysteries, Dipper Pines is a 14-year-old boy from Piedmont, California who fell head first into the supernatural when he and his twin sister Mabel went to stay for the summer with his great-uncle Stan in the mysterious town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. Finding a strange journal that chronicled the town's supernatural oddness, the Pines twins faced down paranormal threats ranging from the comically absurd to the genuinely sinister.
The summer ended with nothing less than the apocalypse, as the twins, their great-uncles, and their new friends had to fight a dream demon who had brought the end of the world to the town and was trying to spread Weirdmageddon to the world beyond.
Fortunately, they were able to pull together and save the day, and Dipper and Mabel had to say goodbye to their grunkles and friends, with the promise of visiting the mysterious town next summer.

thelegion where he was brought into the DC Comics universe, but 1000 years in the future from the time of heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. Brought by a cosmic being called the Time Trapper to stop another omnicidal cosmic being named Chronoblivion from destroying that universe and then consuming all other universes beyond, he was given telekinesis and set loose on the superhero space future. Lying about being the age of majority (saying he was 14, when really he'd only just turned 13), he joined the Legion of Superheroes, taking an oath to bring justice and protect the innocent.
After lots of adventures, both brightly idealistic and horrifying, the multiverse was saved, and Dipper hung up his metaphorical cape and went home to try his best to be a normal kid. (Though he still uses the cosmic brand the Time Trapper gave him to portal in to the Legion's universe to visit his friends there and in the universes beyond sometimes.)
PERSONALITY: Sometimes self-effacing and dryly sarcastic, Dipper can be socially awkward, but is well-meaning and at times genuinely courageous. Bookish and analytical, he can be a grounding influence on others like his goofy, fun-loving sister, but also is fantastic at overthinking himself into a froth of anxiety, and the frightening things he's faced have caused him to develop a greater sense of paranoia.
That said, he can be extremely brave against both supervillains and the forces of the supernatural. With his CRAU history, he's come even more into his own, in becoming a genuinely competent superhero and fully gaining a greater sense of self-confidence but it's come at the price of adding extra trauma onto what he already experienced facing down Bill Cipher, Weirdmageddon, and the other nightmares of Gravity Falls.
It's not the easiest to adjust to a normal life after helping to stop double apocalypses, after all. Fortunately, he's also built up a great deal of resilience in the face of it all to fall back on. (Extra fortunately: the Legion has a staff psychiatrist.)
