Why SOFiSTiK for you?
The cornerstone for this platform was laid when a simple question popped up during an introductory training course: “Do you have a getting-started guide for our structural engineers?” After sending the guide, the idea of providing educational material about SOFiSTiK online was born.
It all started with a blog hosted on www.guidoaltersberger.com in 2017 to share workflows, command explanations, news, and more about SOFiSTiK. After a couple of years, to be more precise, 3.5 years, the blog became www.sofistikforyou.com, a place for SOFiSTiK users to learn about SOFiSTiK in video tutorials, online courses and blog posts.
Why does this platform exist?
The foundation for this learning platform was established when a simple question arose during an introductory training course: “Is there a getting-started guide for our structural engineers you can send us?”

Guido Altersberger
“Hello, I’m Guido Altersberger. My journey with SOFiSTiK began during my university days when I delved into the world of FEA and various finite element software solutions. It was here that I first encountered SOFiSTiK and quickly developed a profound appreciation for its high-end capabilities, combined with its intuitive graphical and text input approach.
My passion for SOFiSTiK grew as I applied it to real-world projects as a bridge engineer. The software became an invaluable tool in my professional arsenal. Eventually, I decided to take my enthusiasm to the next level and joined the SOFiSTiK AG team. My role included promoting the software, sharing my knowledge, and training new users—something that continues to be a true passion of mine.
My journey led me to the UK, where I led SOFiSTiK’s sales branch for over six years. In 2022, I returned to Austria, bringing me a new chapter in my SOFiSTiK career. While I still engage in some sales activities, my role has expanded to that of a Senior Applications Engineer.
Beyond my day-to-day responsibilities, I enjoy sharing insights about the latest features and developments within SOFiSTiK FEA. I also channel my enthusiasm into creating tutorials and courses tailored to new and seasoned users, aiming to empower the SOFiSTiK community with the skills and knowledge they need to excel.”
