Need some help with PowerPoint 2000

Ok, I am trying to make a design template with my company logo and the name at the bottom. I am inserting the logo as a picture (its in jpg format) and inserting a text box for the company name.

It saves as a .pot fine, but when I go to apply it, all it does is apply a plain white template. I have no idea why my logo and text are not showing up. Does anybody know?
