Access Denied

I just got a new hard drive (120 GB for 60 bucks at Best Buy). Before installing it into my computer I used the Windows backup utility to make a backup of My Documents. After loading Windows and a lot of other programs I decided that I need to put my documents onto a partition I made. I made a restore copy and it apparently restored alright. But when I try to open it or modify it in any matter I get an "access is denied - folder is not accessable" error. When I went back into the backup/restore utility to try again I found my documents in the place I restored them. I could access the folders through the utility. Does anyone know what's going on? I tried to put hdd I had my documents into the computer and now Windows doesn't recognize it, bios does. What is up with this???

AMD 1.4Ghz Athlon
Asus A7V133 Mobo
768MB Ram
120GB WD Special Edition Drive (One I'm trying to load docs onto)
7GB Quantam Fireball Drive (One WIndows doesn't recognize but bios does)
