Founders Day Parade

How could I have forgotten to blog the most strange parade I've ever been to?  On Labor Day we went to the Founders Day parade in Wellsville.  I had never been (at least in memory, my mother swears she took me many times when I was little....)  I found a great parking spot, a great place on grass with curb on the side of the road, and silly me thought we were at the start of the parade route, nope!  We were at the very end.  Max is a hard kid to keep entertained for an hour.  We were so ready by the time the parade came around.

The cowboys came through, in covered carts and on horses.Image

The horse poop clean up crew even had a sign.

There was a car that drove around a card board picture of a lady who died.

The ambulance and fire engines had to detour out of the parade.

And there were many many tractors.

You know how you know when you're in a small town parade?  The cemetery is the "other" venue.

Max loved the geek squad, I mean the knights who came through the parade fighting each other.Image

There were several church groups that came through. I thought this one was the funniest, the wild animals, I mean the primary kids...

My nieces Maggie and Libby were in the parade with their cheer group.

 The headless horseman came through.

And finally the Indians.  I'm sure this might be the most politically incorrect parade in the country.

In all truths, the kids enjoyed the parade, I would go again.  I got a nice chuckle out of it.

Ducks, Dress ups and Funnies

My first sweet boy - I love this guy, he seriously sees the world differently than anyone I've ever known.  Yesterday he squished a grape, just as I was about to get upset with him he looked at me and said "Mom, see this (the green part inside the purple outside of the grape) - this is the ingredient in grapes.

Today he came in and asked if I would go to the store and buy the really big marshmallows because he was really hungry - I told him he finished off all the marshmallows yesterday and he said "but they were only little ones!"

Grace still loves to hold Bennett, the other day she called me into the living room, when I didn't come fast enough she called again and told me to hurry, she needed help fast!  So I came running and found her holding Bennett and her baby doll. She told me to take Bennett when I told her she was just fine she said, "Mom, my two babies is a lot harder than your one baby."

Grace had a special Grandma & Grace shopping day the week before school started.  They rode the train into Salt Lake and went to City Creek.  Grace came home with this little fur vest and she loves it so much!  She told me "I love this fur because I love animals so much."

Grace is loving Kindergarten, on Friday she had a friend from school come over and they were playing dress up.  Apparently Max needed in a dress up too - and lets just say he makes one ugly girl. Image

Grace's school had there first fund raiser and the kids got little ducks that hook on a lanyard for every Happening's book they sold.  Grace sold three of them - and was so proud of her ducks.  (Personally, who in the heck wants to wear rubber ducks on a lanyard? )  Image

Grace's 1st day of School

We had quite a bit of chaos surrounding which school Grace was going to, but when all was said and done she ended up in Mrs. Brinkerhoff's morning Kindergarten at Layton Elementary.  This means that she rides the bus too school and I pick her up.
The first day of school Grace was so excited, she couldn't wait to head to the bus stop.  The day before she told me "You don't need to come to the bus stop with me, I'm perfectly fine to go on my own."  And she would have been, but I went anyways.

Grace also told me she didn't need or want me to go to school, that she could find her class by herself.  But we followed the bus anyways.  I was surprised that I didn't cry, I think both of us were ready for her to go.  She was so excited it was hard to feel sad.

Grace took this picture with Emmy Zollinger, she's in our ward and her and Grace were in preschool 2 years ago together.  She really is one of the sweetest kids I've ever been around.  I hope she rubs off on Grace a little!

After school we had a cookie social, we invited moms and kids from the neighborhood and everyone brought some cookies and the kids played and had fun while the moms talked.  It was so fun!  The wind wouldn't leave my table clothes down, and the pictures didn't turn out real wonderful but it was a fun way to start the school year!

Grace ended up feeling sick about an hour after the cookie party, within a couple hours she was fevering and later that night she started throwing up. Poor little peanut had to miss her 2nd day of school, but I'm so thankful she didn't miss her first day.

Lagoon, again.

Lagoon Day (again).  We had a blast, Mike and I went when it opened with the kids for a few hours, then went home and came back around 5pm with his mom and nice.  The kids rode every ride they were tall enough too at least once and there were very little lines for the most part.

Grace and I on the airplanes, this might have been the last day I saw my sunnies.

Mike went on the Space Scramble with Grace and Max, he said their heads kept knocking together.

Isn't this a great picture of the people on puff?  Yeah, I thought so too.  Too bad Grace and Max are so far back you can't see them!

Can you find Mike and Max?
