[Good afternoon, citizens of the Pokemon World! It's Maka with a pile of books and a look like she's got something to say.

In fact, she does.]

Since it's getting closer to the holidays, and the weather is pretty bad for traveling, I wanted to ask if anybody needed to be transported somewhere?

[She directs her Gear back to an Alakazam reading a newspaper (as is usual for Flash) and a Gardevoir tending to a potted plant.]

Áine and Flash here are able to teleport wherever, since I've been all over the region. Flash is more experienced with it and Áine just got the hang of it, but either of them would be happy to take you to another city if it's needed.

[A pause, she turns the Gear back onto herself (though the Gardevoir does give a friendly wave before she does)]

Related to that, for people that have been here a while, I was wondering if we should set up a shuttle kind of service for people that arrive during cold months like this? It really doesn't make any sense to make new people travel in the snow or whatever bad weather is going on when we can just send out our Pokemon to help get them to Cherrygrove so they can settle in more easily.

...One last thing for newcomers and veterans: next month I want to try and have another meeting for the Johto book club. We're going to have it in Goldenrod this time, so if you're interested and need transportation there let me know.

[The feed ends there.]
soundmind: ([Older] ► Please don't with your bull.)
[Well. That was certainly not how Maka expected to wake up--fall asleep in Johto, wake up in her world, fall asleep in her world, wake up in Johto. In the Pokemon Center. Who put her there? Whatever, doesn't matter, she needs to get home and clean up.

Some time and many adjustments later, though, Maka's still got the nagging feeling that something is amiss--mainly, this massive headache that won't go away and the pressing feeling of people all around her.

Oh. Of course, it's one of those days again. She has Soul Perception back.

So, without a bang or a fanfare or...really anything but what looks like a very tired grouchy girl, Maka comes onto the screen. It looks like she's in her kitchen, in between cooking. Even though she's not technically hungry--weird video game coma logic--she's gotta eat something.]

Do you ever just kinda look at where you are and think, "how the hell did I end up here?"

[A pause.]

I'm not confused about where I am or anything, but I am wondering how it got to the point that I drop off into a week-long coma. [...] I didn't even get to read my book before coming back, I'm kinda pissed.

[Maka, that is only a problem you would be irritated with.]

Anyway...where is everyone right now? Have the visitors come in yet?
soundmind: (Confused ► You did what)
--Eowyn, stop!

[First thing that anyone can hear is Maka shouting, one shaky pan up shows a Chesnaught wrestling with a very angry looking Heracross.]

It's all right, it didn't hurt that much!

[The Pokemon seems to be ignoring her, so Maka pans the camera over to herself where--oh, she's sporting a black eye and a busted lip, bleeding freely.]

Um...can...can anyone bring over a jar of honey for me please? I'm afraid to leave these two alone.

[HAWWWWWWW! comes from off-camera.]

--Oh no, not you too, Lolo! --U-um--I'm in Goldenrod park, please hurry!

[Click! the camera goes off while Maka tries to deal with her fighting Pokemon. Indeed, if you meet her in the park in ten minutes for an ass-kicking respond to her call for help or even pass by in the park, she's there trying to split up an offended Hawlucha, an angry Heracross, and a righteously indignant Chesnaught.

Maka looks very Done with all of this.]
soundmind: (Read ► Sarcasm in Laura Bailese)
[Click! Here's Maka on the screen, though she doesn't look very happy. Actually, it's more akin to...quietly upset? She's trying not to show too much emotion, but at the same time--]

All right. Between this and that going on, Snake went home.

[A pause.]

I tried to call him this morning and got nothing. So.

[Another pause. The Houndoom at her side rumbles with concern, but Maka continues regardless:]

While I can't imagine anything worse happening right now, this has been a long time overdue, so I'm just going to say it right now: If anybody sees or meets with a woman named Medusa, tell me right away, and don't fall for her lies. She's a witch that committed many atrocities in my world, and she's a horrible snake in the grass.

[And Maka really doesn't like snakes thanks to Medusa.]

Thank you for your time.

[Ding ding, hello World of Pokemon! It's Maka again, looking quite a bit more upbeat than is usual for her. It looks like she's at the beach, as a matter of fact, apparently still hanging around her house.]

So, tomorrow's my country's independence day. We usually have a big barbeque and light off fireworks when it gets dark, back at home.

[A pause, she shrugs and smiles.]

I don't think Officer Jenny would like the fireworks going off without authorization, though. It's too bad, fireworks are a nice thing to watch when you're winding down for the night.

Anyway...if there's anybody that attended or didn't get to attend the book club meeting but was interested in it, where should we meet next? My friend Kaneki says that the book store he works for might let us meet there, it's over in Goldenrod if that's more convenient for anybody than my house. What do you all think?
soundmind: (Default)
[Well hi, Johto, here's Maka again looking a little less awkward and a little more ready for conversation. Her Alakazam is seated next to her, apparently reading a newspaper.]

Hi! I'm sending out a message for the people who were interested in joining the Johto Chapter Book Club and--well--in case you haven't heard about it, here's a second announcement! I'm starting a book club where people can just get together and talk about books!

The reason I'm making this broadcast today is to tell interested parties that I've decided to hold the first meeting at my house in Olivine, and Flash here has volunteered to transport anyone that isn't able to travel very far.

[Flash just gives the camera A Look.]

If you need to make traveling arrangements, feel free to talk to me about it. Flash would need to know your location anyway to bring you over--ah, but don't worry about a specific time, as long as it's not too late at night or too early in the morning, you can come whenever you want and I'll have drinks and snacks regardless. Be sure to bring your favorite book, too, if you want!

That's all for now, thank you for your time!
soundmind: (Awkward ► Nah...naaaahhhh)
[Maka doesn't say anything for a moment when the video comes on, she looks like she's thinking about what to say--honestly--but then she smiles...

...Awkwardly. She's not that good at smiling unless genuinely happy, unfortunately, so this is accompanied by some fidgeting.]

Hi, so...um...I was wondering if anybody wanted to form a book club? We can recommend books to each other, discuss plots and characters, have a book of the month that we all read at the same time? Stuff like that.

I've never done something like this before, but I felt like maybe there'd be some people interested in it here. Let me know if you're interested.

[A pause. What does she say next, her name? Bye?]

...Thanks for your time.
soundmind: (Friend ► What?)
[Something different, the feed isn't on Maka when it comes up--she seems to be focusing on her Umbreon and Sylveon. Doing this absurdly cute thing.]

Eve and Cadence are really getting along now. Cadence was actually crying because she wanted Eve to travel with us.

[To top this off, the Sylveon--Cadence--wraps her ribbons around the Umbreon and they curl up for a cuddle pile.]

It's not bad or anything, I'm just surprised...and a little relieved, because while they're playing, Cadence is not pulling me to random people.

[A pause, Maka "hmm"s as she watches the Pokemon, then turns the Gear onto herself.]

Next month, I'll have been here for two years without interruption. Do people usually do something for that? I feel like they probably do, since there's been a lot of people here longer than me. Hm.
soundmind: (Default)
[Something a little odd when the feed comes on, it seems as though Maka is sitting very close to Mom's house.

Wait, isn't that back at the starting point? What's happening here?

When Maka smiles, though, it becomes clear--the smile is friendly but there's something...vaguely unsettling about it, something as in sharp teeth. This "Maka" also has blue eyes.

Nope, it's not Maka, it's her Zoroark. Blair, from her position in New Bark Town, has sabotaged the frequency for Maka's Gear.]

My trainer thought that if I wasn't with her, I would forget to tell people it's her birthday.

[Beep beep beep--what's that noise? It sounds like a message being sent off.]

She thought wrong. Happy 17th, Maka~.

[Apparently Blair decided to take "trainer shaming" to a higher tier of asshole, because the feed cuts out from the Maka clone to the actual Maka staring into her Gear with a look of concentrated confusion.]

"Celebrate with friends"? That's a weird recon message, what's Blair thinking?

[Yep, now the feed is firmly locked into Maka's Gear and she's not aware of what's happening.]

--Oh, crap, the stupid camera turned on. Bah. [And she flicks it off, though the damage is already done.]
soundmind: (Angry ► 1 HP LEFT!!!)
[Maka's not sure how she ended up with so many eggs, but when the feed comes on (powered by Tsubaki the Riolu and not her) she seems to be carefully arranging her Fire types in a circle around them. Chikorita, Munna, Sentret, and Darumaka are familiar egg patterns to her, but...the bronze and blue one with the eye on it is unfamiliar. Something about the eye is nostalgic but unsettling at the same time.

In her hand there seems to be a note that she hasn't looked at yet, in her other hand there's a pair of strange glasses. She opts to put them on the Darumaka egg before opening the note to read it.]

"Hey, Maka! Take care of this Daruyou egg, all right?"

[A pause.

She reads that over again, silently, looking up from the egg back to the note again.

A longer pause follows, then a snort--Maka's shoulders seem to be shaking, is she okay?? But then a sound that would be very unfamiliar to even people that know her comes out: hysterical laughter. Oh god, she actually thought that joke was FUNNY?]

Screw you, Urameshi, that was cheesy as hell!

[Maka, Yusuke wouldn't be able to hear you if you're shouting at the sky, this isn't an anime. Tsubaki takes this as a sign that it's time to end the feed though and make sure her trainer isn't going to get a hernia.]
soundmind: (Annoyed ► Don't touch my books)
All right.

[Apparently an update has been added to the games section recently, "livestreaming"--you see footage of the game broadcasted and have a view of the player in the corner.

Unfortunately this is switched to "on" by default and it's not something Maka is aware of or would have wanted on in the first place.

She appears to be playing Five Nights at Fantina's. Geez, Maka, aren't you a little late on that? Haven't you heard there's a sequel in the works at this point? Well, truth be told, it's a game she got on recommendation then put away after a while because it wasn't a style she liked, she prefers RPGs and the like. But then she decided to re-approach it as a strategy/survival game and has been dumping a lot of time into it.

She's on night 5 and seems to be doing well enough with her pattern of conservation. But then a hand pokes up into her section of the view and starts pulling on her pigtail.]

--Lolo, stop it, I'm not hungry.

[Whoever Lolo is, they seem persistent as they just tug harder this time--throwing off Maka enough to be caught by Sandy.] Dammit!

[The horrible screech is followed by another screech--except this one sounds like it came from a bird. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!] Lolo? What are you--?

[Static. Maka has received one (1) shattered PokeGear courtesy of her Hawlucha's Flying Press after being startled by Sandy's attack. Oh well, time to go get another one (again).]
soundmind: (Unsure ► Why am I wearing glasses)
[When the feed turns on, it's trained on a Skiddo happily skipping around an Arcanine that's watching it with some confusion.

Then suddenly it does this and the Arcanine stumbles, looking after the Skiddo with even more confusion than before as it skips away.

There's a sigh from off-camera and the view turns to face Maka who, for some reason, has an Espurr perched on her shoulder.]

He's been doing that ever since I got him. Is that...normal for those--leaf-goat things? I hope he grows out of it.
soundmind: (Stare ► Black*Star shut up)
[Click! Hello, Johto! It's Maka after a long period of silence (and sickness for some of it) and she.......actually doesn't look that happy. Irritated would be a better term to describe it. What's the matter with her?

It's faint but those listening closely can catch grumbles of "idiotic clown" "irresponsible moron" and "how did he talk me into this" before she says her actual message.]

Hello, I'm sorry to bother everyone, but would anybody be interested in a Ponyta egg? Since a certain someone couldn't keep our Rapidash apart, we ended up with three. I won't take money for it, as long as you give the egg a good home I don't care.

Thank you for your time.
soundmind: (Quiet ► I just don't get it)
[Well.

It seems like lately there's been a few anonymous queries on the network. Must be June doldrums. But Maka's not the type to go anonymous for things unless it's something very serious, so she just asks outright because it's how she is.]

So...what did everybody do for a job or general occupation before they came here? Any special titles? Some people seem to have special titles, I guess technically I do too, but then it's like there's a lot of kids that came from regular schools. I'm just wondering what everyone was up to before they arrived, if some of you can remember. ...I don't care if you were something like a mercenary or a soldier, by the way.

Thank you for your time.

[There's an odd sound like a cross between a trumpet and a whale intoning "gooooooooo!" before the feed turns off.]
soundmind: (Unsure ► I think I need to go now)
[The image seems to be trained on a strangely elongated grey mass that's...dripping when the feed comes on. It doesn't move for a moment, then tilts its head to the side ever so slowly.]

Donald's gotten bigger recently...but he's also slowed down a lot too. It's almost like--[a moment, Maka waves her hand in front of Donald's eyes, but there's no response besides the feelers on his head reaching in the directions her hand moves.] I think he's gone blind. Nurse Joy said that nothing was wrong with him so, is this just what happens when--[er] Goomy evolve? That seems like a really cruel part of evolution to happen to such a cheerful little guy.

[But Donald looks cheerful regardless, still reaching out his feelers to touch at Maka's outstretched hand.]

I wonder if this means you're going to get bigger? [She withdraws her hand before Donald can touch it.] Sorry, Donald, your slime is hard to get off.
