Connie Boermans : Visit To Venus
Iris Records 15.026
Holland, 197x

My first fresh rip in about a year !

This LP is by an obscure hammond-led combo from Holland. There's very little information to go by. The cover or labels don't really mention an artist or group name, except "Arr.:Connie Boermans".

Iris Records seemed to run a line of shady Easy exploitation albums - most of which probably never made it across the border (Tijuana style gogo renditions of classical tunes, dixie band boogie cuts of biergarten evergreens,...)

Google Boermans, Iris or this LP and you'll find little of substance. In fact, the most complete write up is by Johan Dada Vis who runs the Exotiquarium pages and it was he who introduced me to the LP several years ago. It proved to be so elusive I didn't really believe I'd ever find my own copy. But recently a friendly record seller from Brussels (who is familiar with my tastes) recommended it to me. I took it off his hands quickly - such contacts must be honored.

Anyway, can't say you've learned much of substance here either, but at least below you can find a link and listen to the album for yourself.

Enjoy!

Henri Salvador

Henri Salvador : Mais Non, Mais Non
Rigolo
France, 1969

Henri Salvador brings his mad version of the Umiliani penned classic Mah-na, Mah-na.
On the B-side of this 45 there's a wild scat cut called "On n'est plus chez nous" (We're no longer home) - something I find oddly actual in view of recent elections here in Belgium (and France for that matter) - and euh both tunes finely arranged by the great Jacques Denjean.

Sciltian Adams, His Choir and Orchestra
Jump LPJ 5107
Italy 197x

Back in business !

I'm kicking off the easy way, recycling a rip and share of many years ago. This was one of the first albums Space Debris shared way before I was running this blog and my rips were only available to members of the Exotica mailing list.

No idea who is behind Sciltian Adams. It's an Italian library LP that has all the gimmicks one can hope for on an Italian libe of the 70s.

Time to re-present this classic rip.

On the move...

Image

After nine years we're moving house...

Records are heavy & I have too many.

It's worth it, though. The new place is big and comfy, right in the centre of Brussels. Dig the view. That's only part of it. One day I'll post a panoramic montage of Brussels' main drag which we oversee in it's grand totality...

Back later,

Les Humphries

Leslie Humphries and Friends : Pop Party
Karussel, Stereo 635 243
Germany 197x

This album is sick. It's by Leslie Humphries - that's him of the Les Humphries and Singers albums. Only this is earlier (I guess - there's no year on the album) and is way out wilder and groovier than ANYTHING he ever did before or since. There are heavy kraut and psych overtones on this LP and - best of all - no medleys !

Pop Party is damn hard to find, too. I know, because it took me years to score me a copy of my own. My pal Johan Dada Vis lent me his in february 2005 and I made this rip back then but couldn't find any reference to this LP online or off - apparently not many people know about this album. But now that I have this finally scratched off my want list it's time to share it with y'all.

So here's another chance to pick up a truely rare and obscure gem from Space Debris... Don't miss it !
