General PSA about her canon: It takes place in another world, however it is heavily influenced by our own in terms of culture and such. So far all the countries that have been introduced in the series have been based off of ancient civilizations of our own. For example, Kougyoku's home country of the Kou Empire is heavily based off of imperial China. The Reim Empire is based off the Roman Empire, various other countries are inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries, etc.

So, basically, it's kind of like she's from the past?? But since their world also has magic and things like that, they are more advanced than we were back then. But still expect almost all references and technological stuff to fly over her head.
