Sometimes a card becomes so tainted by scammers that its incredibly dangerous to buy one at all.

The Reggie White 1992 Fleer Ultra Career Highlights autographed cards are a perfect example.

Randomly inserted into packs of 1992 Fleer Ultra Football were (10) different Reggie White Career Highlights autographed cards.

The autographed cards look just like the non-autographed Reggie White Career Highlights inserts except they contain a signature, and have an embossed Fleer stamp on them.

Each of the (10) pack-inserted non-autographed Reggie White Career Highlights inserts has an autographed counterpart.

Years ago an individual by the name of Galen Ketron (and some of his friends) flooded the market with counterfeit examples of this Reggie White Career Highlights autographed card.

Galen Ketron went on a shopping spree buying tons of non-autographed Reggie White Career Highlights inserts.

Equipped with a bogus homemade Fleer embossing stamp, Galen Ketron began forging Reggie White’s signature on his non-autographed Reggie White Career Highlights inserts.

The amount of fake autographs that he released onto the secondary market probably surpasses the authentic ones that Fleer issued.

Normally I would suggest only buying one that is PSA/DNA and/or JSA certified, but I’ve noticed drastic signature differences between examples that come with that certification. There are some grading companies that won’t even touch them.

Pulling one directly from a pack of 1992 Fleer Ultra Football is most likely the best way to know that its authentic.

Just because a seller says that its “pack pulled” doesn’t mean they were the one to pull it from a pack.

If enough collectors are convinced the autograph is authentic, cards can sell well into the hundreds.

Its a total crapshoot buying one on the secondary market.
