It had been an easy victory today. Plunging his knife deep into the BLU Demo's shoulder just as the countdown ended, Spy felt the satisfaction of a job well done as his weapon crackled blue electricity. Hunting down a few of the stray BLUs, he had just planted a bullet in the BLU Engineer's head when he saw a flash of RED, accompanied by the almost silent click of a door. Curious, Spy frowned slightly and walked over to the door, listening in carefully for the slightest hint of a sound.

At first, there's nothing. Perhaps he had just imagined things then. Spy was just about to pull away when he heard it.

A child's sob.

Startled, Spy immediately grasped the door knob and pulled oh so quietly to avoid any creaking hinges to give him away. Letting the door swing shut behind him with a soft click, Spy switched on his Invisiwatch and started walking down the staircase, foot steps as light and careful as a cat's. A doorway greeted him at the base of the stairs; peering in carefully around the frame, he heard snatches of German singing; it had to be Medic, no doubt up to some kooky experiment. Slipping in with the shadows, Spy made his way cautiously deeper into the doctor's lair; he must've found an entrance to Medic's laboratory. Come to think of it, Medic had been a scarce presence on the battlefield today. What little he appeared he looked even more frazzled and crazed than usual. Spy had chalked it up to another of the doctor's crazy mood swings, but perhaps there was more to it than he had originally thought.

There's that sob again. Checking the area for any signs of the good doctor, Spy finally entered what looked like the main area of Medic's laboratory. Another flight of stairs led up to a door that he assumed would connect to Medic's office, which was possibly where the doctor was at the moment. A table strewn with loose papers, broken jars, crooked syringes and littered with blue prints stood in front of a blackboard with scribblings in German, along with diagrams of adult and children-sized silhouettes. There were some cabinets and cupboards nearby, the shelves overloaded with books, stuffed body parts and files, but what really drew Spy's attention was the surgery table in the middle of the room. A white cloth was draped on it, the edges touching the floor and acting as a curtain for the area under the table. So white and pure that it nearly shone in the dark dimness of Medic's lab, Spy's would've checked out the table sooner or later, but a hiccup coming from under the table required his urgent attention. Crossing over with quiet but purposeful strides, Spy pulled out his revolver and smoothly whipped the sheet off the table, gun primed and ready to take out whatever or whoever was underneath if he needed to-

...he couldn't hide the shock or surprise on his face.

It was a little boy.
